5.0 out of 5 stars This Snow Job A Good Thing
Mark Snow succeeds again with another magnificent score--perhaps the best part of the film it accompanies. This album is a haunting, beautiful journey into the creepy world of The X Files--though it's also a delightfully moody piece that can make even the hottest Summer day feel like Fall. Snow's collaboration with UNKLE on two tracks is excellent and exceedingly worthy...

3.0 out of 5 stars I expected more from Mark Snow
I am big fan of Mark Snow. I am very pleased with his work on X-Files TVSHOW, 1st movie and Millennium TV Show.
However I did not like his work on this soundtrack like the others I mentioned. However the 2 last music performed by UNKLE are awesome!

Mark Snow succeeds again with another magnificent score--perhaps the best part of the film it accompanies. This album is a haunting, beautiful journey into the creepy world of The X Files--though it's also a delightfully moody piece that can make even the hottest Summer day feel like Fall. Snow's collaboration with UNKLE on two tracks is excellent and exceedingly worthy of inclusion. The only weak track is the ridiculous Xzibit song--skip it. This is a welcome addition to the Mark Snow canon of Chris Carter productions--the "X Files" TV series score, the first film, "Fight the Future" and the brilliant, macabre spinoff, "Millennium." Get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Intriguing, Intelligent Film Score, August 5, 2008
This review is from: The X-Files: I Want to Believe - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Original "The X-Files" television composer Mark Snow returns with a most impressive film score for the second "X-Files" film that is among the finest I have heard so far from this year. Snow offers an elegant mixture of 19th Century Romantic music coupled with spirited interludes in techno pop and almost hip hop melodies. Indeed, Snow's score may be the best thing about this film aside from the excellent screen chemistry between actors Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. Diehard fans of the original television series and those seeking an excellent contemporary film score will definitely want to add this CD to their collections. The soundtrack includes several original songs heard during the film and its final credits.

This is a fantastic cd, it's just like being at a concert! The music is rich and flows well, this cd helps me relax on the drive home from work. The 3rd to last track is a beautiful rendition of the theme and the 2nd to last track is that great song from when the credits were rolling and it pans out to the boat and the island. I was amazed at how many people walked out of the theater before they got to see that part. That was the best part! The last song is not of my taste and now I see why it wasn't featured in the movie. Overall a must have cd, 4.9 stars out of 5 (because of that last song).

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful evolution for the X-Files franchise, July 31, 2008

Beautiful, haunting, and at times romantic, Mark Snow's score for the new X-Files movie has matured from the rather bold, electronic music of the series into a wonderful atmospheric accompaniment that blends the symphonic and synthetic together. The ambient music is more subtle than either the series or the first X-Files movie, yet it suits the increased focus on interpersonal relationships of the main characters. It's wonderful to hear more of the full orchestra. The most poignant tracks are "Good Luck" and "Home Again", not to mention the haunting cello in "The Surgery". Snow maintains the creepiness of the X-Files drama in the action and suspense sequences such as "Foot Chase", "Mountain Montage", and "The Preparation", which are dominated by synthesizers and are more reminiscent of Snow's earlier work on the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent soundtrack, August 13, 2008

As a fan I am totally biased towards the movie, loved it as a fan... the film it self is decent not outstanding, hope they close in the saga with a 3rd movie.
The score... probably the best thing within the movie, I just loved the new version of the classic theme song, the end credits were amazing.
If you're a fan buy this album it is that good.
Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for soundtrack lovers, March 12, 2010

Even if you didn't like the movie (it was ok, not great) the music defiantly worth having. I literally got online everyday and listened to samples of the music until I got the soundtrack, I enjoyed it so much. Every time I play it someone will ask me "what is this?" followed by "I really like it!" While all the music is great(except Dying 2 live), the really out standing pieces of the soundtrack, for me, would be, "Ybara The Strange", "The Surgery" (my favorite) "Good Luck", "X Files", and "Broken". I really thought that "Dying 2 live" was unnecessary and didn't fit the tone of the rest of the album. Overall though, it is really beautifully made. The inside booklet was also nice; it talks about the original theme, and has pictures etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good soundtrack, December 18, 2008
Just track 10 "The Surgery" and 21 "X-files Theme (unkle variation) alone are worth the price of the entire soundtrack.

A little dance and electronica, the latter has got to be one of the best renditions ever of the X-Files theme by Mark Snow.

"The Surgery" is an amazingly haunting and soulful tune that serves as a reminder to everyone (especially X-philes who watched the entire series) that the X-Files is not just science fiction, but there is a lot more heart, emotions, and faith in it.

The rest of the tracks are mainly pieces that are probably only suitable to the story during the progress of the show, several containing the X-files theme and from "The Surgery".

Track 14 "Mountain Montage" is totally reminiscent of the starting credits theme in Se7en, painting a picture of a gritty dark washed-out thriller film. Mark Snow is indeed quite a versatile soundtrack composer!

Chris Carter has done it again--he has created music that fits perfectly to the haunting and beautiful film. I listen to this music daily and never get tired of it.
