1.0 out of 5 stars The x-files is a sign of the cynicism of the times
Chris carters jem of nilism"The x-files" is possibly the worst tv show in the history of the medium. Offering nothing but bleekness and bordom, this show is the saddest commentary of the modern worlds love of ugliness. It's very sad that this is popular!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cream of the crop of 3rd Season!, November 1, 2000
This review is from: The X-Files Boxed Set - V. 6 (Wetwired, Talitha Cumi, Pusher, Jose Chung's "From Outer Space", Piper Maru, and Apocrypha) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is probably my favorite boxed set of the series' high points of Season 3 up to this moment. In it is the crazily-paced and funny episode "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'", with old comic actor Charles Nelson Reilly playing the investigative author, Chung. Scully is interviewed by Chung about a strange incident that leads to other strange incidents involving alien abductions and subsequent military cover-ups; remarkably, all the sources for Chung's upcoming book never agree on what really happened. Minnesota residents and fans of "Jeopardy" will enjoy the cameos of pre-guv Jesse Ventura and Alex Trebek as men in black! The two-part episodes, "Piper Maru" and "Apocrypha", find Mulder and Scully investigating the eerie fate of a French naval crew who show the effects of radioactive scorching after finding the wreck of a World War II-era fighter plane. Mulder meets up with old nemesis Alex Krycek while investigating further in the Far East. "Wetwired" is a fine stand-alone episode about the Cigarette-Smoking Man's experiment with mind control using the medium of television. Scully finds herself under the effects of the manipulated cathode ray, and she almost takes out Mulder while in the throes of uncontrollable delusions. "Pusher" is a classic episode pitting Mulder against a man who has the ability to make people do his will just by "getting into their heads". "Talitha Cumi" is a season-ender that introduced Jeremiah Smith, a possible alien-human hybrid who makes himself too noticeable to the world through a miraculous healing, in the eyes of the Syndicate. Mulder once again confronts the Alien Bounty Hunter, who seeks out Smith in order to silence him. Of course, the ever-present evil of the Cigarette-Smoking Man is also apparent, and does he ever have an interesting view of the American public, one which reveals a lot of truth. Creator Chris Carter should be well proud of his creation during this particular season's selections. They were the highlight of a very successful show.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Jose Chung" and "Pusher", November 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The X-Files Boxed Set - V. 6 (Wetwired, Talitha Cumi, Pusher, Jose Chung's "From Outer Space", Piper Maru, and Apocrypha) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a HUGE fan of the show, but only recently started watching last season. Seeing all of these episodes helped me "catch up". "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space' " was one of the most clever episodes of this wonderfuls show I have ever seen. It was interesting, as well as amusing, a quality the series sometimes lacks. "Pusher" was a classic, with a climatic standoff between Mulder and Pusher which leaves you on the edge of your seat! If you're a die-hard fan of the show, or just a casual viewer, this set is a great thing to have. It is, in my opinion, the best wave to hit video yet. (By the way, the next episode after the cliffhanger in Talitha Cumi is in wave 7. Get 7 too, it's worth it!)

The quintessential X-Files episode, and one of the greatest hours of television ever produced. Don't miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best wave so far..., April 27, 1999
This review is from: The X-Files Boxed Set - V. 6 (Wetwired, Talitha Cumi, Pusher, Jose Chung's "From Outer Space", Piper Maru, and Apocrypha) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I must be the luckiest guy in the world! I saw this at Best Buy mismarked for $8.99!!! That is all I had to pay for it! Mismarked with Passenger 57's price tag. Out of the 7 waves I have purchased (just got Wave 7 last Friday) this is the best. Though, all the others come in a close 2nd. My favorite 2 parter maybe Tunguska - Terma though. Love when Alex Krycek gets beat up in the first and loses his arm in the 2nd. lol Horrible of me... Well, Jose Chung's From Outer Space was very creative. They even got Jose Chung from the word "joking". joking = Joe King. hehehe

Well, this set has it all! I showed it to my parents whom have really not seen the X-Files much and they said that these are great "movies." They actually called them "movies." That shows what class they have. Anyone whom doesn't have this wave, get it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jose Chung is a must see., July 1, 1998

This review is from: The X-Files Boxed Set - V. 6 (Wetwired, Talitha Cumi, Pusher, Jose Chung's "From Outer Space", Piper Maru, and Apocrypha) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Of all the sets for X-Files this one has the best well rounded episode collection. This set has a good selection of mythology episodes and stand alones. Wetwired and Jose Chung's From OuterSpace are two of the most inventive and amusing episodes written. Pusher is a classic. And Piper Maru and Apocrypha does well to explain the Black oil and the difficult to explain relationship between Krychek and Mulder. In sum, this is a great set for those X-Files fans who love the series, and those wh just want to start. END

One of the best "stand alone" x-file episodes that can be watched over and over. See if you can pick out the subtle recreations of signature shots and themes from Star Wars (opening scene), Close Encounters of the 3rd kind (mashed potatos) and Twin Peaks (pie in the diner)...I'm still looking for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jose Chung and Minnesota's New Governor Shine., January 18, 1999
This review is from: The X-Files Boxed Set - V. 6 (Wetwired, Talitha Cumi, Pusher, Jose Chung's "From Outer Space", Piper Maru, and Apocrypha) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Fantastic selection - but note that besides the guest appearance of Alex Trebeck as one of the Men in Black in Jose Chung's "In Outer Space", Jesse Ventura - now Minnesota's Governer-Elect - has an extremely meaty - and only - speaking role as a MIB.
