5.0 out of 5 stars Colony is Better Than X Files Movie, July 19, 2001

This review is from: The X-Files: Colony/End Game [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There can be no doubt that Colony, along with Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space,' Hollywood A.D. and The Un-Natural is one of the best X Files episodes ever.

This two part video is really a movie of sorts, it puts together so much of the intense X Files era. There is the alien bounty hunter, a UFO in the Arctic, the return of Mulder's sister and much, much more.

I would strongly advise any X Files fan, especially new fans, to see this video. It is far better than the X Files movie Fight the Future.

5.0 out of 5 stars X-files at its' best, you are not sure what the truth is, June 6, 2009
This review is from: The X-Files: Colony/End Game [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The two episodes on this tape combine modern political controversy with a fundamental theme of the X-files and revisit the disappearance of Mulder's sister. Three doctors working at abortion clinics are mysteriously killed and their DNA is identical. An alleged CIA agent claims that they are clones, created during the Cold War and now being eliminated over their potential to reveal dark secrets of that time.
A woman suddenly appears, claims to be Mulder's abducted sister and puts forward the claim that the doctors are in fact identical aliens that raised her after the abduction. They are being eliminated by an alien bounty hunter possessing the power to alter his appearance to appear as anyone.
While Mulder deals with the reappearance of his "sister", Scully tracks down the remaining doctors but she realizes that the bounty hunter is trailing her. She hides out, but is captured by the bounty hunter when he takes the shape of Mulder. Scully then contacts Mulder and informs him that she will be killed unless she is exchanged for the woman claiming to be Mulder's sister.
Mulder comes up with a plan to kill the bounty hunter but it fails, the hunter kills his alleged sister, although Scully is freed. Mulder then follows the bounty hunter to the Arctic Circle where he engages in a final battle with the alien.
This two-part story is intense and convoluted; at times you are not sure what the truth is, which is what makes for the best episodes of the X-files. The villain is powerful, ruthless and can only be stopped by being killed. Ordinarily when I am watching a two-part sequence, I stop in the middle to take stock; in this case I was so engrossed that I immediately went on to the second part.
