Many fans have been upset with the price of these sets. What you need to understand is that X-Files was the first TV Show released on DVD in the US, making it difficult for 20th FOX to determine a reasonable price for these 7 disc sets. However, please also note the prices wil be going down $50 (retail) in accordance with the release of the final season.

Please go to Ebay and buy each season. I got each of the first seven seasons for only $75.00 each(including shipping). That will save you around $300.00 if you are planning to buy them on this site. Seasons 3,4, and 5 are the best ones to get started with. The Truth is Out There...

I got it today... with few surprises... so far for disk 1 season 8 (included in the set)
1. When played by DVD player bought in USA title menu is invisible as some other menus. Just a black screen with a music. Kind hard to navigate this dvd blindly.
2. After navigate this dvd blindly to play an episode it is appear that quality of the video is not a dvd quality, may be close to video cd.
3. Antivirus is unable to scan boot section of the dvd.

The X-Files is THE must own TV on DVD. The series was quite possibly the best show ever on television. Every week there was something to look forward to on Friday night. Mulder and Scully's investigations into the paranormal, government conspiracies and alien abductions were always a joy to watch. Everything about the show was just golden.

That said, these DVD sets are a must have for the real fans. The picture and sound quality is way better then what it was when originally broadcast. Seasons 5-9 are also in anamorphic widescreen, a real treat.

Now on to the problem, the price. It is my understanding that Duchovny, Anderson and Carter all get a cut from the sale of these sets. With that, FOX is forced to keep the prices higher on these then other TV shows just to recover the costs and turn a profit. There are ways around this however. Buying used is a good way. I've managed to get all nine seasons for $340. You just have to wait for deals to show up. Check eBay often as someone puts up a good deal just about everyday. Another option is the Asian releases. I don't recommend these however as they are most likely bootlegs.

You can buy seasons 1-7 for under $500.00 or you can buy this one for around $800.00...not much more in the way of extras.

This is an amazing show that deserves 5 starts, but it's too expensive!!! I watched X Files religiously for the first several years however, the price per season is insane!!! I've already waited this long to buy any of them and i'll continue to hold out until the price is more reasonable.
There are many hours of other great shows on DVD that are way more afforable. For now i'll spend my money on shows like Buffy TVS 1-5, Angel 1-3, and heck even Babylon 5 is cheaper!

I too must say of all the shows on DVD, X-Files seems to be the most insanely priced. Taking advantage of fans like this is in extremely poor business taste. I'm sure if it were more affordable more people would purchase this amazing show on DVD. Now that TV shows are more popular on DVD, this would be a good time to lower the price (to the giant groan of fans who already purchased them of course, but a necessary evil) and watch them fly off the shelves.

I now have season's 1,2,3,4,and 5 on dvd.
I have bought a couple of these from Amazon.
I also found a couple of them at Newbury Comic's.
They are much cheaper at Newbury Comic's.

I bought one there for $70.00 and the one
I bought was hardly used,it looks brand new.
I agree with all of you,the season's are way
too expensive.I was going to wait unil the price
came down but I couldn't wait no more to own
my favorite show on dvd.They seem to be more
expensive than any other show on dvd,why?

However Amazon.com has lowered the price from
$150.00 to 134.00.Not a bad price but with tax
it will still be almost the same price.
I wish Amazon would sell each season for about
$50.00,then fan's will buy them and Amazon
would make more money off of them.

Let's hope Amazon will sell them cheaper.

The X-Files is one of my all-time favorite shows. I would love to have all of the episodes on DVD but I just cannot afford such high prices. Not too many people are going to be able to shell out $150 for 6 DVDs. It's ridiculous. Not only rich people watched the show.

Other shows come out with seasons DVD;s Why are these so much?
You can get other Complete seasons of shows for around $50 but these run $150 per set thats just crazy
