Amazon.com Review

The X-Files: Unrestricted Access includes everything you've ever wanted to know about The X-Files, all dressed up with a slick interface on two Windows 95 CD-ROMs. This encyclopedia of X-Files trivia allows you to look over photos, character dossiers, and video clips from the show--you can even set up a few X-Files screen savers. Best of all, the built-in update feature will download new content from the Internet, so you'll always have the latest X-Files information at hand. --Michael Ryan

4.0 out of 5 stars Information-wise, great. User friendly, not so great., July 10, 1999

If you just count what it has inside of it, its a great tool for any X-file fan. it offers everything you could hope for; sound clips, pictures, movies, and many other things. There's even a way to search every X-file for keywords. If thats all you care about, great. But personally, I was kind of disapointed. While giving great info, I often opened a new window only to discover that I couldn't go back to a previously opened window. If Im doing something wrong, I think they should have made the program a little more easier to use. However, if you're an X-file fan, I would recomend this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Recent X-Files Fan, December 17, 2010
This review is from: X-Files Unrestricted Access C/W95/Us (CD-ROM)
Well, the reason why I purchased this is because I'm making my own X-Files props "poster" to post outside my room's door(needed documents/pictures off from actual episodes). Anyway, this CD contained what I was looking for. Currently, I'm using Windows XP. Although I managed to install the program, it still wasn't working properly. It wants Internet Explorer 4.0 and an older Quicktime plug-in version. All the software that is required to run the program is in the installation disc. Good luck getting it to work, though. It is outdated software. I did manage to get what I wanted (prop documents/photos) off the disc by directly accessing the files located on the CD itself. Check out the photos I've uploaded.

2.0 out of 5 stars Probably pretty decent if you can get it to work correctly!, August 3, 1998

I was very disappointed in this software. It is extremely difficult to install and to access, requiring an Control/Alt/Delete "End Task" on everything else running. Because Microsoft Explorer is REQUIRED to run the thing (talk about a Microsoft monopoly!), it has created havoc with my own browser and after many tries, I still haven't gotten the video to work. I recommend the X-Files Game highly, but this software is really not worth the hassle - I expected better from Chris Carter and Company!
