4.5 stars.....a great read but not an epic tale.,

This review is from: X-Force, Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
This book is a really well written and drawn, reasonably self-contained book.
Very bloody and violent, and a nice piece for adult readers wanting more Wolverine doing the best at what he does. You don't have to know everything about X-Men to enjoy this book, as I dont. X-Force is basically a black ops team for the X-Men and they go up against an enemy who has captured one of their own. If you're following the 'Messiah Triolgy', then this fits well between Messiah War and Second Coming...a nice Part 2.5.

The first storyline here,Angels And Demons, was awesome ! The second one was not as good but it showed an amazing art so I definitely recommend it,especially if you prefer a more gritty superhero action

This is one of the best comics I have read so far, Clayton Crain's art is awesome and the "dark" part of this team is really enjoyable. A must have for all fans.

After reading through this, I have got to say that this is well worth anyone's time and money. The narrative and the storytelling is spot on and there is more than enough violence and gore to go around, which makes for a great story with a highly dark theme. I like the various art styles used throughout this compilation and how the story sets up the Necrosha arc.

Awesome Dark X-men story. It just sucks marvel won't continue these collections in favor of smaller collections that omit issues.
The art is good, the story is foreboding and sets up future treats that the X-men can't deal with effectively. Plus forcing Wolverine into a leadership roll makes for interesting reading. |
