Review

If the White Stripes are the new Led Zeppelin, The Whip is the
new New Order. --Wired.com

Best thing to happen to dance music. Mutilatingly brilliant. --nme

Product Description

Manchester s The Whip have been making a name for themselves
across the pond with their limb-loosening gigs at festivals and shows all across the UK! Seamlessly meshing an innate indie rock sensibility with modern electro, the band has started the buzz stateside with appearances at SXSW and CMJ and already received accolades from the likes of Pitchfork, BrooklynVegan, Blender.com, Spin.com, Wired.com, NME and many more!
Their debut release X Marks Destination is a seamless collage of 80 s. Looped lyrics and hypnotic hooks of lead single Trash lead into the prickly electro-power ballad Save My Soul and Sirens followed by the robot rock of Blackout and the driving moodiness of Frustration , X Marks Destination is a tour de force of the sounds of a band poised for greatness. Round out the set with dance floor detonators Sister Siam and Fire and you ve got a laser-guided missile of an album ready to blow up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing variety of songs, August 23, 2009
This review is from: X Marks Destination (Audio CD)
I didn't expect that I would get songs differing so much from each other in terms of fast/slow, electronic/instrumental. I'm used to Daft Punk being pretty much the same electronica all the way through.
I LOVE The Whip and what they have done here, the balance of syth sounds and instrumentals are balance perfectly throughout the entire cd. Can't wait for another release.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some uneccesary song versions and bad remixes., June 25, 2009
This review is from: X Marks Destination (Audio CD)
2 good songs 'Muzzle#1' and 'Blackout' are partially ruined in this CD. 'Muzzle#1' has an idiotic music change (comparing to music clip) when a singer sings "I'm moving for no one, the lights have started shining on in...". 'Blackout' is a complete different version from music clip. It's not bad, but my point is that the video version was so good that CD version does not sound well in comparison! 4 remixes sound cheap, I always skip them.

Overall, 'X Marks Destination' is good. Additional songs like 'Frustration' and 'Sirens' are as good or even better than 'Trash'.

Well, first of all, this CD s pretty good but, the highlights tracks are Trash, And the Remixes. Other then that its just another regular CD.
