This review is from: X-Men: The Complete Age of Apocalypse Epic, Book 4 (Paperback)
this is the 4th and final edition of the epic 1995 storyline, Age of Apocalypse. a storyline that affected ALL of the X-Men titles for about 18 months. this is an important story for numerous reasons, namely because of the addition of characters from this alternate timeline making it to the mainstream Marvel universe. Dark Beast, Nate Grey - the X-Man, Sugar Man, and also Blink lived on in this timeline and became immensely popular. this also saw the rise of artists like Joe Madureira, Steve Epting, Bryan Hitch, (yes, that Bryan Hitch!!!!) Jeff Matsuda, (who would go on to do design work for the Jackie Chan Adventures and The Batman saturday morning cartoon fare) Salvador Larroca, Terry Dodson, the Kubert bros., and Roger Cruz (the best artist on the series, IMO). granted, this is a 15 year old story, but it still kicks ass and holds up. I recommend it, for fans and first-time readers like myself. I just read it for the first time, because admittedly, I was never an X-Men fan, but couldn't resist my curiousness for a story that is largely regarded as the best cross-over from the X-Men corner of the Marvel universe.

in volume 4 the age of apocalypse comes to an end in the issue xmen omega. however for some reason there are more issues included afterwards that really have little to do with AoA. the AoA series is great but i think these collections could have been better. they could have left out some of the stuff in volume one and all the stuff after xmen omega in volume 4 and made it into three volumes.

This novel does an excellent job finishing up the story. It gives all of the finishing details needed to find out how it all ends.

I finally end reading Age of Apocalipse. For me the third book was the best. This one (the fourth and last) was ok but didn't really do much for me.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the series is bad, but just didn't do much for me because I'm not a Marvel guy. I'm not familiarized with the X-men universe, and because of tha the impact of the story didn't hit me. All in all, if you are familiarized with the X-men universe characters this is going to be a treat for you, but if not you won't enjoy it.

This is one of my favorite X-Men sagas, so I bought all the 4 books at once. As said before here by other customers, book one was not so relevant as the others. But for me, the main issue was in the colors of the "Generation Next" stories. Colors in this edition are far different from the original one, which were more vivid. In this collection, the colors are faded, white in some pages. The weird thing is that all the other stories, from Amazing X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Gambit and The X-Ternals, etc are normal.

What can I say? I'm a big fan of alternative realities in the Marvel universe...
