An interesting piece of novel done by Dean Wesley Smith. Very imaginative and powerfully addictive. In just less than one day i spent a serene afternoon reading this wonderful novel amazed at the beautifully written comic literature. A joy to read, a story to be unforgettable, this book is a best by for me!aka: Proteus

This was the first X-men book that I read, and since I know them from books and have never read a comic, that's something. It's still one of my favourite. It doesn't have as much action as others I have read, but it is still an excellent read and a good, solid book. I do reccomend it.

I thought that the way the X-Men and the Juggernaut put aside their differences to stop a NEW Juggernaut and save the planet was a good storyline and the subplot of the people that hold the shards of the emerald of Cytarrak was very good. also i like the way the X-Men save the planet from a much greater thrat than theey realized.

The Jewels of Cyttorak,

The Past Cain Marko, fearing his own life, took off into the jungle. Not wanting his step-brother to face a possible court martial, Xavier followed. What they found would forever change their life. The temple was desrted, crumbling with age, and very claustrophobic. Cain was drawn inside. Xavier tried to follow. Cain found a large gem, a ruby the size of a bowling ball. Cain's greed made him touch it. Cain was forever turned into the Unstoppble Juggernaut, and the worst enemy of the X-Men. Centuries before, a similar gem had called to two young monks of the sacred order of Cyttorak. The emerald that spoke to them was as large as the ruby. They reahed out to touch it. But an elder monk, knowing it would release the terrible Cyttorak into this dimesion if one person touched both stones, broke the emerald into three peices, which went spinning into the future.
Present day The Juggernaut felt pain when the emerald was touched. He hadn't felt pain since the day he'd touched the Ruby. It made him stomp off in search of its cause. Meanwhile, the Service boy set off in search of the other two shards of the emerald. He figured if he could find the rest, he would be unstoppable. It's now up to the X-Men to find this new Juggernaut, before he becomes too powerful, and save the world from ultimate destruction! But this time, they may not win....

X-Men - The Jewels of Cyttorak,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: X-Men: The Jewels of Cyttorak (Paperback)
This book was one of the best books I've read. I liked all the characters and the scenes in the book. Who ever likes superstition or adventure books, this is the one you got to read. This book is about Juggernaunt and the emerald. This emerald gives Juggernaunt strong powers. Since there is another emerald in the same dimension, who ever wears it will make Juggernaunt weak. It is up to the X-Men to stop Steve Service who has the emerald. I liked the characters in the book. Gambit was good at sneaking in the office of the big boss. This book gives lots of suspense. This book also teaches teamwork. If the X-Men did not have team work in this book, they would have been defeated. I would rate this book an 8 between 1 to 10. It has lots of adventure and action. I loved this book and I hope you enjoy or enjoyed this book too.

This is one of the worst X-Men novels I have ever read, and I would suggest you not buy it unless you need it for your collection. The story was boring and slow. Many of the X-Men were out of character. Some showed unexpectedly weak personalities in the story. The ending was predictable and none of the characters changed or had much resolved. Overall, I wish I had not wasted my time on this.

Fresh from reading the vastly superior "Smoke and Mirrors" book, I expected another (at least decent) ride through the fantastic world of Marvel. Instead, I found a formulated story about (gasp!> another juggernaut. lah-de-dah The new characters were just carbon copy stereotypes. The hermit, the crime-lord, etc. In this book, A true minute of emotion was virtually non-existent. Don't waste your time on this book. P.s. The cover art was atrocious.

If I could go back in time I probably would have never bought this book. The plot has me snoring through most of the book and I have seen better writing in children's books. Maybe I could use the book for a paperweight.

One would think that having one Juggernaut is bad enough... but two of them? Well, that's what happens here. This time, however, it is an emerald (split into three pieces) that causes the trouble. Each use causes the original Juggernaut something like a heart attack, and the new Juggernaut (a would be heir to millions with a minority complex) becomes stronger. And the two are on a diret collision course for each other. Can the X-Men keep the two apart (and if not, can they win against TWO of them, or one with the power of two)? Only time will tell
