5.0 out of 5 stars Gambit Rocks
This videotape chronicles the struggles and challenges of the most brooding member of the x-men team.

Sure he's hot, suave and quite the ladies man, but underneath that exterior lies a soul that is one of the more tormented in the wonderful world of comic book adaptions. Even Batman, the famed Dark Knight, has nothing on Gambit for muddled pasts. Gambit's done some...

1.0 out of 5 stars What the Heck?
I just ordered this video and I am so disappionted. Repo Man has nothing to do with Gambit! And X-Ternally Yours is fine sure but it really doesn't tell you that much about Gambit's life before hand. I thought there was more than those two episodes on there. How did Gambit join the X-Men? Why does it seem that the rest of the X-Men don't know him very well? I am really...

5.0 out of 5 stars Gambit Rocks, June 13, 2001
This review is from: X-Men - Gambit - Repo Man/X-ternally Yours [VHS] (VHS Tape)

Gambit's done some really shady things in his past, and working with the X-men is his way of atoning for his transgressions.

While viewers are supposed to root for the heroes (and remember the animated series was directed at kids)Gambit is openly shown drinking, smoking and messing around with various women, and lusting after the one he cannot have. With these less than usual character traits in mind, Gambit is hardly the clean cut guy next door, but his grungy looks tap into the facination with "Grunge" that was present in the early 1990's when this cartoon was originally aired.

Then again, this is precisely what made him such a cross over character for male and female viewers alike. Sure, we had Rouge and Storm who had power and could excersise it without whimpering ala Jean Grey, but Gambit added a distinctly romantic element to what would otherwise have been a typical (if politically undertoned)cartoon. Guys wanted to be him and girls wanted to be swept of their feet by him.

As far as I am concerned, the X-men still knocks circles around Pokemon and Power Rangers anyday. Perhaps, seeing as how the movie did not do as good at the box office as expected, he will be included in the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Hunks of Hunks, August 24, 2000
This review is from: X-Men - Gambit - Repo Man/X-ternally Yours [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Gambit, being my FAVORITE X-Men, is portrayed in an idealistic way in this movie. His conflicts are wonderful and chanllenging, and you can't help but sit on the edge of you seat while watching him struggle. His wonderful Cajun accent is there with his muscular body, I have to say even if this is not my favortie X-Men movie.....you gotta love Gambit!

I am really disappointed and if you really like Gambit (like I do) and you think this movie is going to tell you about him... your wrong. Half of the movie isn't even about him!
