X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse is the first X-Men game release for the Game Boy Advance platform. It offers side-scrolling gameplay combined with fighting-game action. Best of all, you become your favorite X-Men character--Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, or Rogue--and do battle using the character's signature moves.
While in story mode, you'll battle Apocalypse's minions as you try to return to your own dimension. In versus mode, you can compete head-to-head in a deathmatch or join forces to battle enemy hordes, unlock X-Men friends, and capture the flag.
Reign of Apocalypse's fighting system lets you score experience points using your brute strength and special mutant powers. At the end of each level, you can use these points to increase your damage potential, agility, or mutant power to unleash the ultimate X-Man!

what can i say i looked at this game and thought it was gping to be another (...)'o'rama game much like mutant wars and wolverine's rage for the game boy color, boy was i ever wrong. if you've ever played the classic x-men arcade game then this game is for you! it captures all the elements of a classic side scrolling brawler! i very rare quality in games today. it reminds me of many classic game such as the final fight series teenage mutant ninja turtles 2,3, and 4, and streets of rage. i know there's more classic games that could be compaiered to this but who cares i'm here to rate this one. reign of apocalypse is not only for x-fans but for any true gamer. in fact coming from myself a lifelong x-fan this game may be dissapointing beacuse of story line and unreal sayings. for example if you know how storms talks from the animated series and the comics she speaks in a much diffrent type of manner in this game. the game is simple work ypur way across the screen. no platforms to jump to. no mazes to figure out. no mind racking stuff like that, just pure brawling! i plan on buying aback up copy of this game cause i injoyed it so much! and i havent even got to the good part!!!! you have the option of playing the game with a friend so yes it is a 2 player game. and the best part it has a built in mutant academy like game within it to play agenst another person with more playable mutants, and arenas then the real mutant academy! this basicly is 2 great games in one. i went nuts tring to find out what mutants were in this game! i searched more then 200 sites tring to find a list and couldn't!! so for those of you who may be worring that your favorite x-man aint here heres the list.wolverine cyclops storm rogue sabretooth nightcrawler sauron angel/archangel pyro blob cable gambit phoenix/jean grey juggernaut magneto psylocke beast colossus silver samurai bishop apocalypse thats alot of playable people for one game. also note that most of these mutants are only playable in 2 player modes. so to rap this long review up in 3 simple words "buy this game" see ya later

X-Men Isn't Classic,
By
This review is from: X-Men: Reign Of Apocalypse (Video Game)
If you fondly remember that great early 90's X-Men arcade game, then pay attention...this ain't it. "X-Men:ROP" is indeed done in the same style as the afore mentioned classic, but suffers from a case of flaw-itis. What are those flaws...well I'll tell you. First off play control is a bit awkward and a bit slow. The jump button is the right hand trigger, and for big hands that isn't always easy(trust me). Your X-men also doesn't like to be bothered to run, they crawl. Rouge has some great animation, but she needs to haul it. There is a dash move but enemies will hit you if you try to use it to escape. Enemies will crowd around you. and since there is no defense you're toast. Not to mention the fact that they can attack you during your attack, making it sometimes impossible to advance in the game. The sound is terrible. Tiny punches and "arrgghh" when you die. Bosses don't make any flashy entrances, and they all have the same voice. Given Game Boy Advances sound potential..someone messed up. The bosses you encounter are unlocked once you beat them. You can use them to fight a la street fighter, but you can't fight the CPU. They are only available via the gamelink. Great marketing, poor programing. So if you are interested in any of the game's cool bosses(Jean Grey, Psylocke, Gambit)then get a friend with the game link and another game pack.So what's good about it. The graphics are great. The X-Men have great animation and the characters are nicely detailed. Background graphics are cool too. Even though they aren't playable in one player mode, the fact that some oool characters are in the game as bosses or mini-bosses is a great idea. If there is a next time, I would like to see the unlockable characters selectable in the one player mode(hint hint). And even with its short comings the game is still fun. It's the X-Men.

this game is really fun for a person who like scrolling games. But the graphics are lacking and rogue is hard 2 use which reminds me, there are only 4 useable characters in 1 player mode.
