Derived from the classic Marvel comic 'THE X-MEN' comes a brand novel published to coincide with the release on video of the hit movie of Summer 2000. Long ago the alien Quistillian leadership ordered its agent, Lucifer, to conquer Earth. The X-Men stopped him, but the victory cost Professor X the use of his legs. Now Professor X claims he has evidence of a massive secret Quistillian invasion plan. To stop it he splits the X-Men into three groups and sends them on urgent missions to hidden Quistillian facilities he discovered, one in the Andes, one in central Africa and one in Antarctica. The purpose is to seize key pieces of alien technology from the scattered sites and assemble that technology into a defense weapon to stop the Quistillian invasion. But is the invasion a lie? Does Professor X have a different, hidden, agenda? Normal human Jeffrey Saunders seems to have the answers to the troubling questions of Professor X'x bizarre behaviour. But his answers don't make things casier, if anything, they make things worse for the X-men.

Well, I wasn't sure what to expect when I first spotted this book, but the great Steranko cover sure caught my attention, and I knew that Michael Jan Friedman certainly knew his way around the STAR TREK universe. But after reading it, I can definitely say it's a great book! Alien invasions, superheroics, and the guy who crippled Professor X in the first place? Outstanding work all around!

I absolutly LOVED this book! The plotline is creative and exiting,the personalitys of the characters are wonderfully depicted and true to the origanles. I love that some of the story is told from the prof's point of view,because it shows that he is only human. It shows that he hates being pitied for his crippled legs,that he feels sorrow that he has to send his students into the field and can't go with them,that he loves all his students and is as proud of their accomplishments as a father.This book doesn't have much background info,but it's still a delightful read. Thumbs up!
