This series was very hard to find. I actually picked up just the magneto series at first not even knowing there was a dr. doom book first and fell in love with the series. The basic storyline was there was this machine called the chaos engine which can change the world to whatever the user wanted it too be or so the user thought which makes for a very interesting twist in the later book.

The tones of the books are very nice. I never got around to reading Dr. Doom book. However the magneto book was interesting b/c he had a very interesting view of the world. In the red skull version the writer does a very good job of making world fitting of the skull.

Overall it's a long read but, if you enjoy the x-men it's definately worth the read.

Let me start off by saying that these stories are very rare and hard to find if you search in local books shops around your area. Even when they were in publication, it was difficult to find these in your local Barnes and Noble and Borders Books and Music. The stories center on the Cosmic Cube and how the X-men cast of deals with the disillusioned utopia each villain creates with the artifact. The X-men cast is a very diverse one and the fans of the X-men will be sure to have their favorite character represented in these books.

The first story centers on Dr. Doom, the second Magneto, and the third Red Skull [Who ends up being the most villainous of them all!]. Also making appearances in these books are classic X-villains such as Sabretooth, the Acolytes, the Mutates, the Brotherhood, and many more. In each story you'll find a baseline cast, but as they travel from dimension to dimension they'll run into their X-men teammates, but with a different spin. For example, Rogue I believe is a rebel leader in the third book. Those who love the X-men will find these stories enjoyable, as the forum of written literature is in my opinion an underrated medium when it comes to enjoying science fiction and fantasy. I mean why pay 3.00 in a comic book and getting only 30 minutes of enjoyment from it, when you can find bargain paperback books which go for the same price and get a few hours worth of entertainment out of it? Not only will that, reading books improve your grammar, spelling, and articulation.

I am a huge fan of Dr. Doom. So when I saw this massive trilogy featuring him as one of the main villains I had to buy it. I really wish I hadn't...

The first chapter of the book is devoted to making the book sound like it is going to be bad... and it is. Even though the first scene turns out to be a very bad movie.
It features a line that disgusted me more than other book I have ever read.
"Doom consolingly patted her on the shoulder."

At this point I threw up a little and put the book down.
