This is the Standard,
By W. N. "Will-N-LA" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews Many inexperienced photographers use Kodak color strips or Kodak gray cards, these are useless (go to the professional photo supply and open up three of the Kodak color strips-they'll all be different, as will the gray cards-which are only good for determining exposure) Macbeth color Checkers are expensive, but they'll help you train your eye and calibrate your color. And they'll let your clients know you are a professional. My standard method when shooting large format transparencies of a work of art is to include the larger Macbeth Color Checker, a half size Macbeth middle gray card and a strip of ruler along side the picture frame (outside the shadow) or near the edge out of the way. The Macbeth Gray is a calibrated neutral that you can read an exposure setting from and will be large enough to read with a densitometer. One trick. The color is 'off' in the reproduction, but you're not sure which way the color is shifting. Look at the Macbeth colors-which one 'pops' out? That color is the direction the color has shifted towards.

Pocket Size colormanagment,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't know why Im writing this, other than the Amazon sending me a email to review my purchase.. (smile)
Seriously, if you know what a Gretag Macbeth Color Checker is, then you know what it does, and this product is simply a creditcard sized version of the big one, its dead on as always and running it with a profile software in photoshop creates a perfect profile for color managment, so the card travles with me everywhere. and the size functions very well. For those who do not know the Gretag Macbeth Mini Color Checker, its a system of VERY accurate collor swatches, cleverly arranged so some very typical color-cast errors will cause the some of the colors to practically trade places when seen on the screen. these colors are also a "known standard" so there are several different softwares on the market which will process a picture of the card and create a color profile, which you can then apply to pictures taken at the same time. This is useful in several ways. Profile your studio setup, and then create a studio profile on your computer for great colors in the studio. Profile a location you are shooting at by taking a picture of the card and making a temp profile to apply to all of the shots from this place. My only question is how long to I loose this one and will need another... Its a great product. But be forwarned, its for serious users and requires a followthrough on your part. Bo

Must have color checker,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a must have for color calibration. I liked the smaller one because it is more compact and fit right inside my camera case.
