I bought this scooter for my 90-year-old husband for his 91st birthday. He loves it, but I did not count on it being slightly dangerous for him. When turning around on a slanted driveway, it can possibly tip over!
It arrived in an iron framed shipping cage, which had to be taken apart before the front wheel could be put on. The latch for the lock on the compartment under the seat was broken off, and there were many scratches where the basket was placed during shipping fron China. The top of the basket was also broken at one of the hinges It must have had a really rough time during shipping.
It looks really cool, but if I had my 'druthers,' now, you could keep it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works for me!, December 24, 2009
I bought this scooter as a retirement present to myself after extensive online research, and so far I am very happy with it. It certainly does elicit many favorable comments and it's a lot of fun to ride. The cost is very competitive - it looks like a more expensive scooter. It's a mobility scooter with the "wow" factor! Very solid and substantial to ride, but not that difficult to maneuver when pushing it, such as positioning it in the garage. So far I can't think of anything I'd change about it.

This is a great scooter, but I recomend buying it in person because I ordered mine and they did not give me the front axle. I called to let them know and no one picked up the phone during business hours. They finally sent me an e-mail saying they won't have that axle untill the middle of November. Don't get stuff like this online. Buy it in person.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite the zippy little machine, August 6, 2010

This bike was purchased for my wife, whom is wheelchair bound, to come on family bike rides with us. We have only owned it for a few days but this thing sure beats any other powered wheelchair for the price, although it should not be used in place of a power chair due to size and seat construction. A few key things that we like is the speed and smooth ride. I have driven it a few times - first after I put it all together to make sure everything was set, and then again after I adjusted the brakes to get a quicker response. My wife couldn't be anymore happier with it. If you have limited standing ability, then you may need assistance transferring onto the seat because the bike doesn't weigh enough to support a pull transfer, but my wife thinks with practice she will figure out a way.

It took me less than 40 minutes to unpackage and "build" the bike, then charged the batteries overnight and it was ready to go. One feature I didn't see mentioned anywhere, but wanted to point out is the seat is on rails, so you can adjust it to your reach. A strange feature is the speedometer is rated in kilometers/hour with MPH smaller on the instrument cluster. Because of factory packaging errors, our bike arrived with some scuffs, and grooves in the rear rims from the steel wire ties. Also the brake hub was left unprotected so it rubbed paint off the fork, and there is a scratch just above the headlight bezel. I am going to file a support ticket with the manufacturer to see about some of these issues and will update this review after I hear back.

EDIT/UPDATE: July 22, 2011 - We've had this now for nearly a year and it is still running fast and smooth. My wife never was able to master the transfer from her power chair to this bike, but with my help I can get her moved. Another thing I noticed was the bolt holes and studs on the back of the seat don't match the basket. But for us that's not a big deal, as this is just a cruise around with the kids bike. With some work I could make them line up. The batteries are lasting and haven't faded from what we can tell. Took it on a 4 mile ride last weekend with the kids.

RE: Support ticket, I completely forgot about it and am not that concerned about the scratches at this point.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous and unfit for purpose, December 18, 2010
I bought this scooter to use on a two month stay in Australia. I have had three 500
meter test runs. On the first it tipped me out backwards ( No instruction to say glider wheels essential.....infact no real operation or maintenance instructions at all ). Third test trip threw me off sideways when the left wheel dropped into a grassy hole. Requested technical assistance...no response.Requested return for credit,.......response......told to read the fine print.

Purchase item & arrived 3/15, 4/15 scooter would not run. I was informed that a motor coupler was the problem. I'm 78 years old and can't find anyone to repair, so I'm stuck with $1500 piece of junk that I can't use. Had trouble from day one, one of the batteries was disconected. When it did run it was great, but that was for a short. Thier warranty only applies to parts. You can't talk to a real person Everything is done by E-mail. You E-mail them and then they E-mail you back with what they believe the problem is. One a day. Unless there is dealer near OR have strong mechanical skills and help. DON'T BUY. WARRANTY FOR PARTS ONLY.

One year later it is in the shed, disabled with a broken transaxle and defunct comtroller. I would not recommend this machine to anybody seeking mobility help, at any price.

3.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A FUN MACHINE, June 8, 2011

This review is from: X-Treme Scooters XB-420M Elite Electric Mobility Scooter (Sports)
I HAVE HANDICAPPED POWER CHAIR AND SCOOTER, PLUS TWO STREET SCOOTER CHEAPIES THAT I'M ALWAYS DOING REPAIR ON. THIS STURDY EXTREME SCOOTER HAS THE QUALITY OF THE HANDICAPPED ITEMS (WHICH MEANS LITTLE OR NO REPAIR). I SEE THE TIRES ARE OF TOP QUALITY AND ALONG WITH THE BATTERIES, SHOULD LAST THREE YEARS OR MORE ... THE SMOOTH RIDE AND EASY HANDLING MAKE IT THE CADDY OF ELECTRIC SCOOTERS, AND I EST. LIFE TO BE ABOUT 10 YRS IF NOT MORE. I FASHIONED A STRAP THAT GOES UNDER THE SEAT, SO I CAN LIFT THE SCOOTER INTO MY VAN FOR TRANSPORT. NOTHING CAN MATCH THE SPIRIT LIFTING FREEDOM I GET FROM TOOLING AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD ON A BALMY DAY. MORE THAN HAPPY I MADE THE PURCHASE. SUCRIP

P.S. HAD TO MAKE REPAIRS TO LEFT REAR BRAKE (GRIND DRILL/TAPE AND INSTALL 1/4" BOLT TO 'STOP'). RIGHT REAR BRAKE (REPLACE BLOWN BEARING NO/GREASE). ELECTRICAL WIRE TO FRONT BRAKE HANDLE CAUSING POWER SHUTDOWN(POOR INSTALLATION). THIS IS QUALITY CONTROL AT THE FACTORY. THOUGH EVERYTHING SEEMS RIGHT NOW, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED. HAD I KNOWN.

P.S. AGAIN SAME DAY LOST THE REVERSE FEATURE ... REVERSE IS A LUXURY FEATURE THAT I'D GOTTEN USED TO BUT CAN DO WITHOUT ... IT COULD BE A SWITCH PROBLEM, AND/OR A BREAKDOWN IN THE POWER CONTROL MODULE (SERIOUS). AGAIN QUALITY CONTROL AT THE FACTORY.
