Great Everything!,
By A Customer
This review is from: X, Vol. 1 [Original Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
This was my first anime soundtrack that I listened to and it quickly became one of my favorite soundtracks that I've got.I hears the songs in the TV series and I knew that they would be special. The music was one of the things in the series that I loved. All the tracks are strong and emotional. My favorite is track 12, "Destiny- piano version." It captures the heart of the full orchestra set but is so simple its alluring. Even if you're not an anime fan, you would like this soundtrack. My sisters, who don't like anime, loved it and they made fun of me for buying it!!

A beautiful escape,
This review is from: X, Vol. 1 [Original Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
This is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard, in a soundtrack or not. The songs are beautifully composed and really fit the theme of the show. If you want to be swept up in emotion I strongly suggest it. From the majestic "Destiny" to the tense "Count Down" the music covers a wide variety of sound all wonderfully done. I highly suggest this cd to any music lover even if you don't like the series or have never watched it.

eX-tremely cool!,

First off, I absolutely loved the TV series, so I knew that this soundtrack had to be great. It didn't disappoint. From the rocking opening theme of "eXdream" to the soft ochestral strains of "destiny - piano version" This CD is one that you'll have to keep listening to over and over again. If you're a fan of X , then this CD is for you. If not...? Well, I don't think you'd regret buying it... listen to the track samples and decide for yourself.

the incredible X soundtrack,

This review is from: X, Vol. 1 [Original Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
First off, I have to say that the instrumental pieces of this score are GORGEOUS, especially the breathtaking "Destiny" which still gives me goosebumps when I hear it-the heart wrenchingly beautiful emotion portrayed fits the sadness of X perfectly.
The vocal pieces are pretty good too-from the fast pasted "Ex Dream" opening theme to the smooth, gentle ending theme. I haven't heard an anime soundtrack this good since the likes of Escaflowne, and the orchestrational music is enough to rival that of Joe Hisashi (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away). Utterly gorgeous, and whether you love the series or not you should give it a go. 5 Stars all around.

A Theatrical Score to a Television Program,
By The Otaku (Middle Eastern Seaboard) - See all my reviews
This review is from: X, Vol. 1 [Original Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
I feel as though X: Original Soundtrack, Vol. 1 proves that in Japan, painstaking scoring isn't sacrificed even thought the music belongs to a television series. Especially with 'Destiny', many of the songs on this CD possess the depth and sheer mass of a theatrical symphonic score. The level of music matchs that of Samurai X, a movie-quality release of the Rurouni Kenshin series. The opening theme, an electronical rock beat, could sum up the series with its lyrics (practically all in Japanese, though the tone shows the emotion). I'll give my ratings and a small explination for them:
-Opening Theme: eX Dream- 4 stars (I'm not that much a fan of male Japanese singers, though this is an exception; great voice/emotion) -Destiny: 5 stars (favorite track, broad depth in strings; ominious "battle" anticipation) -The Two Kamui, The Two Secret Swords: 4 stars (mysterious triangles transforms into a semi-creepy beat; sudden transformation into exciting orchestral beat w/ electric guitar) -Reckless Run: 4 stars (a chase-scene beat with ominious male voices; electric guitar on occasion, fantastic strings) -Red Thread: 3 stars (good harp but too long for solo; probably good with series, though I have only read the manga) -Hyper Battle: 5 stars (eerie horns turns into a Matrix-like chase beat; skin crawling xylophone [possible]; Hitchcockian violin for several seconds) -There is Always One Future: 4 stars (emotional violin/string ensemble) -Peaceful Daily Living: 3 stars (least broad/deep of the collection; solo electric keyboard) -Count Down: 5 stars (ominious drumbeat synonomous to the title manifests into a thrilling, suspenseful tone) -Encounter: 4 stars (nice quick, light beat with a hint of anticipation/worry; transforms into an electronica-jazzy beat) -A Suite (Dragons of Heaven): 4 stars (longest song of collection; floating suite with "The Last Crusade" cords at a certain point) -Destiny [Piano Version]: 4 stars (piano versions often take away from the original, though a good piano solo can be just as powerful as an orchestra; provides poignant "base" sounds) -Ending Theme: Secret Sorrow- 4 stars (don't like some opening/ending themes; didn't particularly enjoy the vocals though the music was light, dreamy, and enjoyable)

Stunning,
This review is from: X, Vol. 1 [Original Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
I have always loved soundtracks, the way that a composer uses music to set the mood. But I am still incredibly picky about which soundtracks I buy.
From the first episode of X I knew that I had to have this soundtrack. The essence of the whole series can be felt in this music. Even if you have never seen an episode this music will move you. Absolutely stunning.
