If you are trying to migrate your data from your old drive to your new Xbox 360 or drive none of he 3rd party cables will work to do it directly. The official Microsoft cable is now sold separately and is only $15 from the Microsoft store.

With the official cable all you do is plug it in and turn on the console and you will get a message that the extra drive has been detected and give you an option to transfer the data.

If you want to do it "manually" you can individually move files with a flash drive but may encounter problems moving DRM protected content which will "just work"(tm) using the official Microsoft transfer cable.

I wasted time and money thinking any transfer cable would do. Do not make the same mistake.

I bought this item thinking that I could simply transfer my old Xbox 120gb hard drive to my new Xbox 360 S 250g... WRONG! It was a waste of $11. I had to go to my local retailer and buy the Microsoft version (which worked in a heart beat). Avoid buying this crappy version from this person and just save up your money and get the real Microsoft transfer cable so you wont be suckered into this crap that DOES NOT WORK like I was.

This is not what it says to be, the cable is not from Microsoft Company, also when you connect it to your xbox hard drive and to your new xbox it does not transfer the data, the only cable that works is the one in that Microsoft sells in their online store, you can also save money by connecting a Hard Drive or USB to your old Xbox, I did it this way and worked DO NOY BUY IT from this seller

This cable does not work. Seller has been contacted but has not replied very disappointed with this purchase.

I used this for quite a bit to upload hacked games onto my hard drive. Hooray for no more disks! This thing is awesome and does all I need it to and for the price -- you can't go wrong.

I bought the transfer cable to transfer mainly game saves but the cable would not appear on my Xbox 360. I then remember I could use USB flash drives to transfer data so I used that route. I recommend using flash drives only if you have the latest Xbox dashboard update and if you have a spare flash drive with no data on it (the previous data on the drive will be erased).

Well, I guess it depends on what you're expecting out of this cable! I can see why some reviewers are disappointed about this not working to transfer HDD data, but I can't see why they thought it would work. Microsoft is notorious for proprietary stuff.

The important point is this: do research before you buy anything! Especially 3rd party products.

Having said that, I picked up this cable to transfer saved game data and new files (mods) to and from my Xbox HDD. I used it to update rosters for football games, share saved games with friends, and back up old saved game data to save space. Transfers to and from the computer easily. No problems.

should of done more research but you need a cd as well as the cable.

The cable was sold "as new". However, when I received it it was wrapped in a plastic bag and closed by a rubber band. There was no software, nor was there an instruction manual with the cable. The worst part was the cable didn't work. I was able to locate a new cable from a local retailer and it worked the first time and transfered the data flawlessly. So they sold me a cable advertised as new that clearly was not and was broken.

This product is only a storage device, it does not transfer any data, but the seller is going to get me a refund, and I still havent check my account so I am not sure.
