3.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as everyone says, February 3, 2005
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: XBox Spirit Wireless Controller (Video Game)
First off, yes the Spirit controller is big and there is no need for the extra B+W buttons. But these other problems are not related to the controller's design. Random spinning or lack of button use is due to low batteries. The batteries that come with the controller only lasted me about 2-3 days after I purchased two of the controllers. At that time I had the same problems everyone else is complaining about. But after popping in good ol' coppertopped Duracells, my controllers work seemingly forever between battery replacement, and I don't have spinning/button problems. I have also never had signal problems, even from my bedroom to the front door. I have hosted many 4-8 person Halo 2 matches at my place, and everybody always wants the wireless controllers. The people complaining about joystick sensitivity probably just need to turn down the "look sensitivity" in their profiles. I bought these because I was at Wal Mart and they were the same price as the corded controllers, and I don't regret it. But the logitec controllers are WAY better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another sad attempt at wireless controllers, January 4, 2005

I owned this controller for about 2 hours before it broke. The first thing I noticed out of the box was that the batteries went where there should be rumble packs - there aren't any rumble packs!? Rumble is completely necessary in many games and this controller never said anything on the box about not having it. The controller is made from thing, cheap plastic that broke from a 2 ft drop off the couch when my ferret knocked it over. The extra white/black buttons are completely unnecessary and difficult to reach and often get stuck. The connection is terrible. I had merely my leg between the controller and receptor on the console and my guy on screen would just start spinning in circles for no reason. My right trigger button was messed up from the start - without the slightest touch whatsoever, I would start shooting randomly. Ergonomics are fine, but when the controller doesn't work properly, I could care less about ergonomics and more about finding a new controller to replace the worthless piece of junk I just bought. I just bought the Pelican Edge wireless and it is much better for $10 more. Get that instead of wasting your money on this.

2.0 out of 5 stars HIT & MISS...very aggravating, December 27, 2004
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: XBox Spirit Wireless Controller (Video Game)
'PELICAN SPIRIT WIRELESS CONTROLLER'
Well, to sum it up, I'm very disappointed. At first, all feels great. The controller looks good, feels good and the buttons are placed comfortably on the pad. Sadly, that's where the good stopped and the aggravation began.
The FIRST problem was the analog sticks weren't at all accurate. I'm a huge first person shooter fan and accuracy is very important. I felt like I was missing a leg in a ass-kicking contest! When trying to aim and fire, I was all over the place. It was nearly impossible to take out any of the enemies because the analog was non-existant. In 'sniper' mode I couldn't get an accurate shot because the stick wouldn't allow me to "barely" or "slowly" move. It was "fast" moving, all the time. That's no good. Then at other times I found myself spinning in circles, but not pushing any buttons at all. It was insane.
The SECOND problem was when I pushed one of the buttons(A,B,X,Y). I'd be at a critical moment, I'd push a button and it would NOT respond and other times I was at a critical moment and it would respond. Very frustrating. I began to worry so much about the controller, instead of focusing on the game and task at hand, that I wanted to set the controller down and stomp on it! Nothing's worth that kind of misery!
*SIDE NOTE* The L2 and the R2 buttons(extra shoulder buttons) seemed okay, but I never found them necessary and not at all worth the frustration this controller brings with it.
The THIRD problem was there are NO vibration motors. Which was NOT mentioned on the box. What a bummer! The vibration brings a since of attention and jolt to the moment of action.
I actually had 2 of these controllers and the problems were very simular in both. One was a little better in one area, but then worse in another. Unreliable became my conclusion. I hate to say these things, but for the money, these things should work and work good.
IN FINAL I just can NOT recommend this controller.
There are two good things about this experience...(1)Thankfully I can return them & get my money back and (2)warn you.
