The first thing to say about it begins with its crystal clear sound, in my case this amp is driven by an 5 years old pioneer car stereo cd player. From the first-setup testing I noticed a huge difference from the previous amp from Pioneer that was installed on my car.
I used 5 of the 6 channels of this amp, 4 channels are connected to a set of 6x9" 160 watts MB Quart speakers, the other channel drives an 12" Cerwin Vega single coil bass.
So I began the testing playing a song from Enigma called "Sadness" the sounds from this song is a challenge to any sound system due to the deepness of the bass and the crisp of the high tones.
The sound is just immaculate, crystal clear on the speakers as well in the bass, even with the volume set at 90%. Every sound is perfect, bass is loud with a really hard punch.
The size of this amp is another plus, in my case I placed it where is supposed to be installed the factory amp. It fitted so well that it looks like the OEM.
Really easy to set up and adjust. Its flexibility and degree of control are head and shoulders above anything else that I've seen in an automotive amplifier.
Since every channel has it own crossover, you can adjust the frequency range for every set of speakers. By doing this, the distortion level on high volume can be eliminated and the efficiency and frequency response of the speakers maximized.
This amp that won't quit no matter how heartlessly you drive it. After running the amp for about 2 hrs with the volume set at 75% I checked the temperature on it and it was barely warm the heavy duty aluminum heat sinks not only look good, but are efficient as well..Read more ›
After reading a few negative reviews of JL products, because of warranty concerns, I felt I should add this. JL will not warranty any of their products if they are not purchased from and authorized dealer, as far as online dealers there is about 6, you can check JL's website to find out which ones they are, but they all charge MSRP which will be higher than any of the prices you see here. If you want the pricing you see on here, you have to forgo the warranty, just be mindful of this.
I purchased this amp to replace my XD500/3 so I could power my 4 door JL C2-650 speakers and a JL Stealthmod 12" sub. I thought the XD500/3 was impressive in sound quality, power and size, and with the XD600/6 being only two inches wider, I knew the space above my sub had more than enough room to fit it, so it was a no brainer. I'd been running my rear door speakers off of a Kenwood KAC1502S, which was mounted under my passenger seat, but was not at all crazy about it being like that, and I really liked the idea of running my entire system from one small amp.
After the XD600/6 was hooked up, I couldn't help but notice how much cleaner the JL was compared to the kenwood, even though it was just the rears, it made a big difference at higher volume, but that's not a big surprise seeing as the kenwood was not in the same range as the JL in price or quality.
I have no regrets buying any of the JL products and their reputation is well deserved. I have used and listened to alot of other car audio brands over the years, but after using the JL products, I now consider them my go to brand for car audio products.
The size of the amp is great, it's small enough to fit in tight spots that alot of other amps might not fit in.Read more ›
Pioneer DEH-80PRS, feeding the 600/6 -
2 channels to a set of Morel Tempo 4", 2 channels to a set of Pioneer 6.75" mid basses and 2 channels to a 20 year old pair of Bazooka DVC 10's
Great crossover flexibility simple because all channels allow the option of High Pass, Low Pass, or Full Range. Some amps only offer High Pass/Full on a couple channels and regulate Low pass to one set of channels for sub-woofers.
Oh, and the amp sounds great too!, no noise, just amplifies the sound as it should.

This amp works great with my Nakamichi HU. The cool thing is it's really small and doesn't need great ventilation.Published 18 months ago by Richard L. Patterson
