Quiet and cool.

I can throw Battlefield 3 at it and it runs great and I can also throw Crysis 3 at it at max settings and the game looks beautiful.

Overview:
This card is the new generation of AMD graphics featuring the new GCN technology from AMD. It is built to be more responsive and better in overall performance than previous generations of cards. It also features support for AMD's new Mantle API which first debuted in Battlefield 4. As for this specific model XFX decided to boost the clock speed of the graphics core and the memory. instead of the base 925 MHz this card is clocked to 1050 MHz and I found it very easy to get it up 1070 MHz with the correct software. Let's be honest the software installed on the support disc is useless, it's better to get the updates from AMD directly since they are more up to date.

Performance:
This card is very capable of running all of my games on ultra without any loss of frame rates and this is set at 1080p. It loses significant FPS after you surpass 1440p so if you want to max out your settings at anything higher than 1440p you will need to get either the 280X or higher or another 270X for CrossFire. I can throw Battlefield 3 at it and it runs great and I can also throw Crysis 3 at it at max settings and the game looks beautiful. The fan assembly is also very well done allowing for maximum air flow onto the card and with a neat little vent on the back the air gets pushed out of the case and not back into the case so that heat does not build up. As I use this card I can not seem to get it above 65 C and the fans still stay relatively quiet. I have software that allows me to overclock the card and crank the fans to full speed and it's considerably loud if the fans are turned to max load, but I have not had a reason for the fans to go full speed so the card stays relatively quiet and cool.

Anytime you're building something you think price, Is it worth it?
What is the performance like verses other cards in it's class?

Go on over to fudzilla and look at the review on the XFX R9-270X-CDFC

This is how I based my decision. I have 2 of them running is crossfire mode now!

A. This card like all cards these days is pricey, since bitcoin is driving up the prices on many things especially computer parts.

B. At the right price I personally think this card beats out all the other R9 270X's out there. At least the ones with 2gb of memory.

C. Although I really like running two of these cards in my PC, 1 XFX R9 290X would suffice.
I have excellent air flow in my case at idle both my cards stay at 33.0 °C

I was looking for a basic replacement for an aging (but flagship) ASUS 5870, I didn't want to break the bank on this upgrade/replacement. The PC it was intended for is primarily used for Sims 3 (and the upcoming 4), various RTS and basic PC/media streaming.
I snagged the XFX R9 270x on a popular auction site, gently used, $115.

It arrived mint, installed and tested throughly. FurMark ran for 6 hours, not once did the GPU rise above 59C (138'ish F for the U.S.). I, on occasion, heard the fan spin up, but nothing as to alarm me or groan that it would be like that going forward.

The card was dropped into an HP Pavilion Elite e9120y that had a few upgrades on it already:
M2N78-LA
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black
8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport
WD 500GB Black
Onboard audio
700W OCZ GamerXtreme PSU

Nothing too fancy, truthfully, but then again, it serves its purpose and the XFX R9 270X was a welcome upgrade, the 5870 got flipped to gain back what was spent so this card cost less in the end.

This card has a lot going for it and I'll try not to cover ground that others have in their reviews. For context, I have an Intel i7 860 CPU (not oc'ed), 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, and an SSD boot drive running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It's a self-built machine that's been rock-solid for over two years.
Pros:
- Great build quality. This feels very solid and appears to be well put together.
- The reputation of XFX appears to be much better now that they've abandoned support for NVidia cards. I was hesitant getting this one after looking at forums citing XFX's poor quality a few years ago and lack of customer support. When I looked at another retailer's site, XFX reps were very active in both good and bad reviews, which means to me that they are much better at support now. And their Radeon cards appear to have fewer problems.
- This has run all my games at maximum settings without a hiccup (though see Cons below for a caveat.) I'm not the high-end gamer I was but this runs Sniper Elite 3 (one of the free games offered by AMD) perfectly.
- My temps are very low, even after maximum stress (Sniper, Furmark, etc.). It idles at 30 C and maxes at 40 C. My temps are lower than others here due to my truly fantastic Coolmaster 840 case. If it's still available, I recommend this case highly. Though it's the size of a small steamer trunk, its size and super quiet fans keep my components chilled on air alone.
Cons:
- Since installing it, I've randomly had the equivalent of the BSOD. Even when not playing games, the screen will freeze with a color pattern and only a hard restart will get me back. I've checked the Windows minidump and it doesn't appear to be an actual BSOD but there's no way of recovering without the hard reboot.
