4.0 out of 5 stars Great Budget AGP Card for the Money
Great card for the money. The price dropped for 7 dollars (without the rebate) a day after I bought it. Installed flawlessly on my 4 years old Dell 4600 with 2.8 GHz P4, 1 gig ram, and 250 Watts psu. It runs at full speed (AGP 8x speed on my PC). I believe it can also run on 4x if you do not have 8x on your computer. For those of you who is using a Dell with an...

3.0 out of 5 stars XFX GeForce 6200 256MB DDR2 SGP Video Card.
Works OK, was looking for more as it is linked to my Panasonic Plasma and the automated sync kept falling over, but if you don't spend the wasted hours trying to sync automatically and do it yourself then a good card at a reasonable price. Conversion to low profile was my main reason for purchase and if you buy the kit it's easy. BUT YOU MUST BUY THE KIT, because while it...

This review is from: XFX PVT44AWANG GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (VGA/DVI/S-Video) (Personal Computers)
For those of you who is using a Dell with an integrated graphics card like me, make sure that you COMPLETELY delete the original graphics driver AND the driver installation files in C:/dell/drivers. I didn't delete the files in "dell/drivers" the first time I installed this new card, and the old integrated card automatically reinstalled itself after the reboot. As the result, I kept getting the blue screen of death during start ups. So I was forced to delete the drivers while I was in safe mode and start everything all over again. BTW, if you are not connecting this card to a TV, which I assume would be fairly complicated, I highly recommend you to skip the installation CD and just go download the latest Forceware driver and install that, which can be found on http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us.
This card is perfect for people with old PCs that do not have PCI-e slots and for those that want a quiet computer. As many of you can tell, the card is not really cannot be called "fast" by today's standard since the Geforce 6200 was originally designed for budget minded consumers, and it is very hard to be overclocked (it's not build for OC). The card runs completely silent because I cannot hear any additional noise in my computer which only has 1 single fan. Considering it only has a heat sink, it does not run very hot. It idles around 52 Celsius and jumps to around 73 when I play graphics intense games like Need for Speed Carbon and Fable the Lost Chapter. With this card, I am able to play NFSC on medium settings and Fable on high. Photo also renders a lot faster on Photoshop. You can always get a high quality vga fan (a lot different from the plastic ones you get on cheap video cards) online for around 10 dollars if you think your card is running a bit too hot. From what I read, people at Nvidia said you do not have to worry about it as long as the temperature of the card is below 130 (personally I do not believe it, anything above 90 is pretty bad).
Again, I believe all of you who are considering buying this card are not serious gamers. If you want to play the new games on highest settings, go with a PCI-e Geforce 8800 Ultra factory OC (DirectX 10 is the future!). If you don't have a PCI-e slot, go get a PC with the slot because there is no point of buying a fast AGP card (it's expensive and still not as fast as a PCI-e card). This card is really for people who want to upgrade their old PCs since most of the old computers do not have powerful Power Supply Units. Originally, I was going to buy a faster Geforce card but the PSU on my computer is not powerful enough to power any of the faster cards. With a minimum 250 W power supply, I believe this card can run on almost every PC made in the past 4-5 years (but seriously, other than me, who's still using a PC that's 4 years old?). It really makes a HUGE difference if you are upgrading from on-board graphics. The reason why I only give it a 4 is because every time after recover from sleep mode, the card tends to freeze up a bit while I play games. I have not been able to figure out the reason why, and it seems like a few other people also have the same problem as me. After all, I hope this card can just go a little bit faster. But for the money I paid, this really is a great card for the value.
Sorry for my bad English. This is the first review that I've ever written. It's a quite late in the night so I decide not to proofread it. Just leave me a comment if you have any questions. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected., January 19, 2007

This review is from: XFX PVT44AWANG GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (VGA/DVI/S-Video) (Personal Computers)
I was looking for a cheap video card that would let my girlfriend play World of Warcraft on her 6 year old 1.6GHz P4. Knowing that I'll be building her a new computer soon, I just wanted to get the job done. This card fits the bill. Without any in-game tuning (using the video setting defaults) she is able to play without too much interuption or skipping. (When she gets in a city it gets pretty bad though.) The card worked right out of the box. Windows XP SP2 didn't have native drivers, and the ones on the CD were very old, but a download from NVidia's website and it was up and running quick. This model is fanless, which is nice, because there are less moving parts to fail. All in all, I got exactly what I expected for $57, and few headaches. I also like the nice small boxes video cards come in now (most software titles too), gone are the days of having to pay extra shipping or store mammoth boxes for small items.

I bought this card so I could run dual monitors, I have an older 21" CRT and just bought a new Hanns G 22" TFT (I Love it, reviewed seperatly). I was a little concerned because there was another reviewer that mentioned something about power requirements and I couldn't find any information about it online. In fine print on the box it mentions a minimum 250W power supply if you have "a number of other internal devices installed" I installed it on a Dell Dimension 8250 and it was super easy, I did read the instructions, they said to uninstall the old drivers before removing and installing the new card. I did that and it booted up fine, new drivers installed easily and the dual monitors work perfectly. I don't play games so I can't comment on that aspect of it but the setup of dual monitors was fast and easy.

I got the agp type XFX GeForce 6200 256MB DDR2 TV DVI video card and this thing is awsome. It brings your graphics to life. No slow downs, flicker or trouble of any kind. I've had other video cards before but this thing kicks all their butts. The price was very good (only around $60.00) and I've heard that it is actually better than cards 3 or 4 times the price and I believe it. I would highly recommend it! I needed agp for my needs at the time and it works great but it also comes available in pci express so if you have one of these slots all i can say is go for it since its like 8X's faster than agp. I hope that GeForce does not discontinue this card or will atleast continue to use the formula they used to make it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing card for the price!, November 30, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: XFX PVT44AWANG GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (VGA/DVI/S-Video) (Personal Computers)
OK, first of all, this is not the latest and greatest card on the market. If that's what you are looking for, this is probably not the right card for you. But if you are looking to upgrade your older AGP compatible mainboard with some extra accelerated video memory, this card is simply amazing.

At first, I was thrown off by the low price, I wondered how well the card would work. But the Amazon reviews swayed me (along with a rebate) and I purchased the card. Everything about this card impressed me. I plugged the card in, booted right into Windows XP with no safe mode issues. I put the driver CD in, installed the software, the system rebooted, and it worked. I have had a lot of experience with add-on cards, and this was by far the easiest PlugNPlay experience I have ever had. I almost couldn't believe it was that simple.

Photoshop runs 10 times better with this card (seriously), and when I put in SimCity 4 (an older game admittedly, but still), I couldn't believe how I'd gotten along without this card. I maxed out the resolution, all texture settings, and the game ran without so much as a hiccup. This card supports Direct X 9 and the Shader 3.0 model, so it will run almost every game on the market. Not bad when you can plug it into a 3-year-old machine, like mine.

Also, for anyone wondering whether or not you can use this 8x AGP card in your older 4x AGP slot, you CAN. The video software will automatically read your system information and set the card to the appropriate BUS speed.

So again, if you are a hardcore gamer who wants the latest and greatest games coming up, you might want to consider a card with faster acceleration and more memory. If you are looking for an inexpensive upgrade for an older machine that will allow you to run almost any game on the market right now, this card cannot be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great graphics card, December 4, 2007

This review is from: XFX PVT44AWANG GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (VGA/DVI/S-Video) (Personal Computers)
I wanted to play Doom 3 on my computer, however, it was choppy (at the lowest settings) with the 64 MB GeForce 550Mx that came with the computer. So I looked around and saw this card. This card plays Doom 3 easily at High (800x600), no playing with overclocking or anything. So I'm quite happy with it's performance even when I probably could get more out of this card.

Installation of the card was relatively simple. Took the normal 30 minutes from start to finish. It may of been simplier for me as I was upgrading from an NVidia based card to another NVidia based card Make sure to download the updated NVidia drivers from NVidia's site. The installation of the updated drivers is quick and painless.

This package comes with an S-Video cable, so you can go to the television, which is always a nice option. Why play a game on a small television when you can do it on a large television? Also has a DVI connector too.

So far, I'm happy with this card, for what I want from it. It may not be up to snuff for today's applications, but if you are looking at running older games, this inexpensive card is a great option!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent item for price. Excellent for upgrading to Vista., February 6, 2007
This review is from: XFX PVT44AWANG GeForce 6200 256MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (VGA/DVI/S-Video) (Personal Computers)
Pros: Bought a couple of these. Excellent quality AGP card for the price. Dual heads, allows you to use 2 monitors. Low profile. XFX sells a low profile kit which includes an adapter for this card. It allows you to get relatively powerful graphics into a small case which has only low profile expansion slots. Vista is a CPU, Memory, and GPU hog. This is probably the most affordable way to upgrade a board with an AGP slot for Vista, and get compatibility and good performance with all versions of Microsoft's new OS.

Cons: None, other than I wish I got more of XFX 6200s, and that the card can't fix all the bugs in Vista.

It runs Sims 2 just fine at 1024 x 768 with all the graphical options turned up. I don't ask much more of this since it's not my performance machine. A great value to give your older AGP based machine some more pep.

If you REALLY want to push your AGP machine wait for an nVidia 8000 series card. They're making an AGP one!

Great graphics, easy to install, outstanding pics. Once I got it, opened the box, 15 mins later, I have it installed and running and I was very pleased. My games, pics, websites, and programs are sharper and like I said the graphics are great. HIGHLY reccomend this product to anyone looking to upgrade their graphics card.
