This card works fantastically but runs very hot, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a third party cooler replacement as the stock cooler dosn't cool very well and is rather loud.

Very powerful video card! Currently play League of Legends, Battlefield 4 and Batman Arkam Origins all maxed at 1920 x 1200 without issue. Put in a system with a strong 650w power supply(as the card needed to be connected to power supply for more juice). The card does run a bit hot but after reading many reviews (Hardocp, legitreviews, ect) that looks to be normal so not concerned.

Don't believe all of the reviews. This card kicks butt! To date its the best bang for your buck! It does run hot but not as much as people say. I play BF4 for 4 hours straight and have no problems related to heat. Occasionally beta drivers cause some pain but will eventually go away.

Highly recommend!

I admit, When you cater to the hardcore gamer. We're absolutely obnoxious to deal with. We wanted it shipped yesterday, We demand lifetime warranties and top shelf customer service. We go through every extreme to milk every drop of performance out of every piece of hardware we can get our hands on , in short of nuking it to a burnt crisp.

Why? Because we spend obscene amounts of money in our hobby. Last checked, the Worldwide Video game industry was estimated at 93 billion dollars.

Brand Loyalty and trust are earned and built over time. Praise spreads quickly by word of mouth. That's just how we work as a community.

Now for the card. Close enough performance to a GTX 780 Titan at a significant $300 dollar savings? After being a longtime player for the "Green-team", Radeon finally has my attention.

Performance wise, This card ran great. With the stock reference cooler the card ran very HOT with temperatures hovered around 85C. The stock fan is LOUD. Like a jet engine. With an aftermarket cooler temps easily dropped to around 70C and the fan noise virtually vanished Be careful though, adding an aftermarket cooler may become a hassle later should the card end up defective. You definitely destroy those little "void if removed or damaged" while removing the stock cooler to make room for the aftermarket. Reports that XFX is "modder-friendly" (in the US only), but I hadn't had the chance to test that by doing an RMA. I'm also disappointed that XFX seems to have quietly eliminated the double lifetime warranty, something that definitely made the brand stand-out to the hardcore gamer-enthusiast market they were trying to win-over. I think their current warranty now is 2 to 3 years.

Best card for the money right now period, nothing comes close to this in performance per dollar. This card is on par with nvidia $500+ Video cards and trade shots with them which is impressive. This will run any game and i mean ANY game at full graphics everything on like nothing(assuming you have a decent cpu), the fan it's not loud at 47% but will not cool the card enough so i would recommend increasing the maximun speed to about 60 which is noticeable but not loud like other reviewers say,(you can do this in the drivers control panel) you have a lot of room for overclocking even with stock cooler if you can handle the fan which is not that loud unless at 80%+.

Things i don't like the fan is loud over 80% and i mean very loud but unless you're overclocking you will never have to run it that high, i wish they had used a better cooler on this.

AND BTW THIS COMES WITH FREE BATTLEFIELD 4 WITH REGISTRATION AT XFX WEBSITE SO GET YOURS NOW !!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This card works fantastically but runs very hot, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a third party cooler replacement as the stock cooler dosn't cool very well and is rather loud. I've only had one account of coil whine but not completely sure it was the 290s' fault. it runs just about every game at highest settings 60+ fps.the card was well transported, inside of its original packaging as well inside a larger box filled to the brim with packaging peanuts, so there was no damage while transporting the card. this card is defiantly worth the $270.00 I spent. This card get my recommendation.

This thing absolutely ROCKS!!!!!!!

I was one of the lucky people who bought one of these and it unlocked to a full blown 290X. I was also one of the lucky who received Hynix memory instead of Elpida.

XFX seems to be the brand with the highest percentage of 290X chips in 290 non x cards. A bios flash away and you have a R9 290X.

Don't expect this to go one forever. I'm sure once they have supply and demand taken care of all the 290s will have laser cut locked 290 chips. Flashing can be difficult for beginners. You will need to make a USB boot drive to boot into 32bit command prompt and you have to do command line directions... but it is easy if you have ever used command prompt before. There is only one string you have to type in.

-------------

CONS!!!!!!

This thing is loud as all heck. If you are not planning on buying an aftermarket cooler or waterblock right off the bat I would NOT buy this card at all. Wait until the companies sell these cards with upgraded coolers the cards will probably only cost $20 more. Right now it is just too loud. I am waiting for my waterblock to come in and the noise is just killing me.
