My very first true graphics card was a Radeon rage 128 with like 8 or 16mb video ram. I have gone through many Radeon cards and for 180$ this is one hell of a card. 3.0 out of 5 stars Comparison with a nVidia GTS @%)
I run Microsoft's Flight Simulator X. I bought the Radeon 5770 in hopes that it would improve the frame rates over my old nVidia GTS 250. I did not notice any difference. It went to 8 to 15 FPS, to pretty much as I was receiving before, even though I had added the latest drivers for the Radeon unit. So if your running a nVidia GTS 250 or it's equivalent, don't look to...

My very first true graphics card was a Radeon rage 128 with like 8 or 16mb video ram. I have gone through many Radeon cards and for 180$ this is one hell of a card. Lets face it not many, if none games today support direct x 11 however my nvidia 9800gt did not support my Panasonic resoultion which was because my 9800GT didn't have a HDMI output connector. The fact is when I grew tired of the Radeon 5850 being out of stock I bought this card and so far hooked to a Panasonic 46" plasma it has performed outstandingly. If you want maximum performance wait for the 5850 for 5870 but the fact remains 180$ for a graphics card with direct 11 and capable of running L4D at full 1920X1080 resoultion is remarkable. This card almost didn't fit into my NZXT cases so be prepares it requires some room, for this price this card is outstanding and its in stock woot :). I am not a nerd nor going to give anyone a pros or cons verdict. Fact is I'am a gamer so for 180$ this is a great deal and lets face it ladies and gentle men why should anyone pay more than 200$ for a graphics when it will be outdated within a year? Too many manufactures are looking for profit with no gain to consumer experience, all I have to say is watch what you spend and remember corruptions are looking out for any amount of money they can acquire, was this card worth the 180$? So far yes but beyond 200$ is insane especially considering a x-box is 200$

5.0 out of 5 stars Gone back to Radeon, November 26, 2009
This review is from: XFX Radeon HD 5770 1 GB DDR5 PCIE Graphics Card HD577AZNFC (Personal Computers)
Though I have been an NVIDIA Fan Boi now for 5 years.....I have come to respect the new Radeon series, especially since XFX has jumped on the Radeon band-wagon.....

I've always been a HUGE fan of EVGA and XFX and I thought I would venture into the realm of Radeon again knowing that XFX has an awesome reputation for having a great graphics card.

I can't say that I'm that surprised because this is backed by XFX, but I've had nothing but a great experience with my new XFX Radeon 5770.

My system use to skip and stutter in the first 10 seconds during gameplay on COD4 with my 8800GTX, but since I've installed this Radeon 5770 from XFX, I've had no such problems!

For those of you who play today's latest games and future games like COD MW2, this Radeon 5770 from XFX is PERFECT!

You can't beat the DOUBLE LIFETIME WARRANTY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge improvement after I finally got it installed, January 18, 2010

This review is from: XFX Radeon HD 5770 1 GB DDR5 PCIE Graphics Card HD577AZNFC (Personal Computers)
The only thing that is a negative was it took me about 6 hours to install the card. Most of it was my problem. At first I didn't think that my HP desktop even had a slot for it, but finally determined that it did. Then shoe-horning in this big board on my little motherboard was a challenge. Then I couldn't find the power connector because the drawing that came with the board was nothing like the actual board. The connector was hidden in the end of the card inside the cooling shroud. So, bottom line, I had to call HP to make sure that the motherboard was compatible and I had to call Radeon to find the power supply connection and later to ask them to troubleshoot as my computer would not recognize the card. There was pretty much nothing they could do, so I finally reseated the board and apparently it was a few microns from being seated completely. Now it works fine. My only performance example so far is playing Ghost Recon 2 Advanced Warfighter. Before I installed this card, there was so much lag in the screen movement, even at the lowest settings, that it was unplayable. Now the video is incredible with no lag whatsoever. Occasionally Ghost Recon crashes, but that is probably a Windows Vista issue rather than the video card.

So, to sum up: Installation a pain and poorly documented. Operation is a joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic card for the money - a no brainer, November 24, 2010

This review is from: XFX Radeon HD 5770 1 GB DDR5 PCIE Graphics Card HD577AZNFC (Personal Computers)
Since BFG Tech has decided to leave its customers holding really expensive paperweights as the cards die (the company folded, so there's nobody to honor their lifetime warranty), I found myself in the market for a new video card. This replaced my 8800GTX, and at about a quarter of the price. I did buy the 8800 when it was fairly new, so it was almost 600 bucks. This one was a little over 150 shipped. I mentioned all that because price point is a critical factor in graphics cards.

That said, how about a performance overview. The first tests I ran were benchmarks...3DMark '06 and '01. I was a little disappointed in the numbers compared to my 8800 with the exception of some framerates over 1000. Some framerates were actually below what the 8800 scored. But those are just benchmarks. Then I fired up the 2 games I spend the most time with...Crysis and FS9. The 8800GTX found issue with both of these. They were very playable, but I had to bump the settings down and still got buggy, jumpy play sometimes. The 5770 would have none of that. It crushes these 2 games at the highest settings. There were several little niggles with both games that went away with this card upgrade. Crysis looks like real life now. FS9 is amazing everywhere. I thought before that I was seeing all these games had to offer. Now I'm seeing what the Nvidia couldn't cough up.

This card is also a good bit smaller and lighter than the 8800. It also only uses one 6-pin power connector. One head scratcher with the design is that the 6-pin plug comes off the end of the card opposite the outputs, but bigger cases shouldn't have any trouble. If you have a smaller case, take this into consideration. On PSU, I haven't been able to make this thing drink up more than 100 watts so far. Not even that actually. Seems like this card is pretty efficient considering its capabilities. It's running cool as well. I have to say, I found the feel of the card kinda cheap and plasticy, but it isn't a tactile feedback device...it's a video card which, at least in my machine, is tucked away out of sight. So that's not really a gripe...just an observation for those of you who prefer to display the innards of your PC in all its glory. It certainly wouldn't affect any decision I were making regarding this card.

You get some sort of free RPG with this when you register. I briefly looked into it, but I don't like RPG type games, so even free isn't enough to get me to install it.

I'll come back and adjust this review after spending more time with the card if necessary, but so far, it's a big winner. The price point for the performance blows me away...particularly after spending 4x that a couple of years ago for far less performance. At this point, this one's getting 2 thumbs up, 6 stars, 2 snaps and a twist on top of its A+.

Edit: After quite a few hours of gameplay, I thought I'd update my observations. I've had 2 crashes in Crysis...video card related I suspect. One I believe was a result of letting Catalyst do its auto-detect thing. I've pulled the clock back a bit and it's been smooth for many hours. The first crash was probably due to a restart that I should have done before I ever fired up the game.

Gameplay has also been improved. Quick movements in Crysis used to be tough to pull off, but no more. The HD transforms the game. As for FS9, I'm shocked at the difference. It's just butter smooth in every case...in all lighting conditions in the heaviest of textures.

I'm not using that much of a machine either...a few year old 6750 on a P5k3 Deluxe with 2 gigs of DDR3 on XP and a 7200RPM HD @ 1680x1050.

I'm playing Fallout3, L4D2, and Dragon Age all on either max settings or just about in a 1920x1080 resolution.

This is a fantastic card, and I love that it's available right now as opposed to the 5850/5870. If you have time buy one of those or a 4890! If you need something now, you can't go wrong with a 5770!

A little on the long side, nothing a regular ATX case couldn't handle. Be aware that the 6 pin connector at the end will add to the length as it doesn't connect at the top or bottom.
Game play is very smooth, the catalyst control center offers a lot of customizations. If you're a purist, the drivers only download is what it says, drivers only with no downloads.
Really I've had no problems and have since been able to max out all the settings on any DirectX based apps (including games).
Dual DVI ports have that + connector for DVI to VGA adapters if you need them, also has Dual HDMI ports to boot.
Very quiet also.
Everything I could have asked for in a card under $200.

This is a GREAT video card, the power and quality that offer is the best in the market for the price. I've play crysis, dragon age, gta4, codm2, assasin creed,.. all the games full quality, and everything runs perfect. XFX did a beautiful presentation with the box btw.

I used to be a nVidia fan, my old card was a 9800gt that was ok ( I was expecting a little more of this card) and I decided to upgrade this time giving a chance to ATI, (I have a Phenom X3), and they don't dissapoint me at all, I'm really happy with my video card. the temp its ok in stand by at 56º and gaming at 70º ( And the ambient temp is 26º).

For the price its a Excellent Choice.

I bought this to as a upgrade from my old graphic card that came with my PC. I play world of warcraft and the Sims 2, have not tried the Sims 3 with it yet. So far I love this card! Make sure your power supply is able to handle this, I had to buy a 450W. My old PSU was only 300W. Its a large card, so make sure you have enough space for it. It was a tight fit for my HP Pavilion M8120n Media Center, which is not great for upgrades. Might have to get a whole new tower in two years. Here is some more info: PCI Express x16 - Plug-in card, NVIDIA GeForce 7350 LE(My old graphics card)

I've been playing many games with this and it works most of them on max settings. L4D2, Civ 4, StarCraft II, TF2, even The Sims 3, all run at max settings. It can get a little hot at times, but with the modest cooling in my rig, it's not even a problem. I highly recommend this over the competing nVidia cards.

+(s)
1. Plays latest games at 1920 * 1200,AA4x,highest on other settings, at decent frame rate, an occasional glitch now and again( not certain if it was the card tho)
2. Love the size. Its shorter than the 48XXs and forget about the nVidias (just a tad smaller in length than a matx motherboard).
3. No problems with installation .oooo... dont use the cd , download and install latest drivers.
4. Runs surprisingly cool (comparing it to the 4XXX series).
5. Got to love the fan throttling.
6. For this level of performance, price is not bad.

-(s)
1.Fan is a tad noticeable.Mind you ,I like my PC dead silent so..I am a little picky in that department...(the reason for 4 stars and not 5).
2.Needs 2 expansion card slots ..but hey ..not a big issue anyways on my matx box.

Oooo..thanks again Amazon for you great service :)
