Gaming: Let's be honest, this isn't meant to be a gaming GPU and anyone who says its a "bad video card" for choking on modern AAA 3D shooters is missing the fundamental point of having these inexpensive cards on the market in the first place. These 240s are meant to be cheap, low power, low heat, relatively quiet drop-in replacements for integrated video (which are generally far worse). And, in that respect, this little GPU does its job pretty well. For me, however, it misses the mark mainly because AMD decided not to equip any of their R7 240s with the ability to display 2560 x 1600 via Dual-Link DVI (DL-DVI). This isn't necessarily XFX's fault, but rather is a limitation of AMD's R7 240 reference design. If - like me - you happen to have a 30" monitor which only has DL-DVI ports and "falls back" to 1280 x 800 as the only available resolution then this is a problem. I have other, newer monitors in the house with HDMI, but this old 30" Dell has an absolutely fantastic IPS panel that produces a screen quality I have yet to see surpassed by standard LCD in the past 7 yrs and because of this I use it for my primary work monitor. Dear AMD: good 30" monitors are still over $1000, so this isn't a screen I just want to toss and replace because it lacks HDMI ports. Please put DL-DVI on all your videocards. It can't possibly cost more than $.10 per part vs. SL-DVI. If you need 2560 x 1600 you'll need to step up to at least the R7 250, but make sure to double-check the specs b/c not all 250s can do the higher resolution either (I verified at least one by Powercolor that does).

Before returning this card for a refund I put it through its paces just to see what it could do.

I noted there were some graphical errors; so perhaps I got a defective one, or it's particularly sensitive to heat conditions-- I was using it in a smallish Dell machine with the low profile bracket. It was great up until that point, I didn't like the artifacting though, and am returning it.

I needed a newer generation video card to send an HDMI 1.4 signal to a 4K monitor.
I also needed it to be low profile to fit into a small form factor HP computer.
This did the trick and works perfectly.
I know it isn't super fast for playing games but that's not what I got it for.
It will be used only for business applications and playing videos. It excels at both of these.
I was a little nervous about the tiny fan but it isn't loud at all.

This card sips power! Run so cool. It surprised me that this bottom of the barrel card can run very well wolfenstein the new order, battlefield 4, cod ghosts, crisis 3 and others. Save your money and buy this if you have a budget for more meaningful items (such as groceries, home solar power, electric fencing and so on). Buy it!

This is about as small a GPU card as you can get. I have a Aspire X1420G-U5832 (Wal-Mart special) computer and wanted to replace the onboard Nvidia video. This is a compact case and it does have a PCI-E X1 & PCI-E X16. The bays are single width and not much shorter than the end of the connector as well as half height so this really narrows down what you can fit. The power supply is also only 220 watt so power consumption is also a factor. The box it comes in is about the size you'd expect a computer game to come in and fit perfectly in my mailbox!

Luckily this little gem fits those spec's perfectly! It comes with both slot covers for full height (with VGA output) and half height. Once you change the slot cover to the half height you have a DVI & HDMI video card. If you still need to use the VGA output they have an additional slot cover for just the VGA (note this will take up an additional slot but a dummy slot would work for this purpose). The fan on this card just happens to be placed under the top vent of the Aspire X1420G-U5832 so cooling isn't much of an issue. The top of the case does grow warm when the card is in use. Note, I run BOINC so the card is running near 100% 24X7.

The card is 'overclockable.' After running OCCT for just a few seconds with the memory overclocked to 1000MHZ from 900MHZ I was getting a ton of errors so I now run it at stock speeds. I might tap it up a little less and try moving the GPU speed up sometime but since I use this for BOINC (In particular Seti@home) 100% accuracy is far more important than just finishing a work packet. In my case it usually runs around 129°F which isn't too bad considering it is running near 100% of full load 24X7 in a small case. This card sips power at around 30watts TDP.

Its not the top end GPUs but installing on a low profile computer giving it that extra graphics boost. This gave me the performance I needed.

It's not a high end card so I didn't expect all too much out of it, but I did need a performance boost for my small form factor computer and this was the best I could find. It can support up to two monitors which is very helpful for me. If you're not super-hardcore-to-the-max about playing games (or even 3d modelling/rendering), but you have a pretty big interest in them, then this a card I'd recommend to anyone else with a small form factor computer (this also works with larger sized computers as well), when integrated graphics don't perform well.
