First of all i would like to start out by saying that i have only owned this video card less then two weeks. I was trying to decide between which brand to go with, xfx, msi, asus, sapphire, so i decided to settle on this one, mainly because xfx offers lifetime warranty, so i thought this is the best choice. The box contents is just the card, manual, drivers, and those cards you hang on the knob of your door. No vga to dvi or hdmi converters, nothing of that sort in case needed, which at the time i needed.. Installed the card, and everything worked smoothly, have been playing couple of games, on decent resolution and mostly high graphics. Bad company 2, CS, DOD 2, HL2, Bioshock, Left 4 Dead, Crysis, Dirt 2 ect.. and never hand any significant lags. I was able to overclock the card decently with MSI Afterburner, without raising the voltage. The temperatures are decent, and it does go up to 70 Celsius and around there, when gaming. Overall i feel that this is a very good ati card made by xfx, i have not had any problems or difficulties with the video card, i hope this helps those individuals considering to buy this card. Peace.

Like John Smiley, I bought this to drive my late-2009 27" iMac in target display mode. I can report that it works perfectly. I have it driving three displays -- mini displayport (iMac) and two DVI outputs. Games perform perfectly on maximum detail at the full resolution of the iMac.

You might wonder why this is a five star rating. It's been a long and frustrating road for those of us trying to use the target display mode. There were a couple of really-old-generation cards that could do it. Due to some kind of flaw in the 5xxx series, only the 5870 could do it, and that was just too much to pay for a card that wouldn't be used to its full capabilities.

These 6870 cards perform almost as well as the 5870, at a far lower price point. Total win, as far as I can tell. I've left an older NVIDIA card in the machine so parallel stuff can run on its chipset.

Based on what I see at the ATI/AMD site, the drivers might be a little shaky, but I have not see any evidence of that yet.

Now i've only had the card for a little while now, about 3 weeks, but so far it has been a wonderful GPU. I'm very pleased with its performance in everything i've run with it.

The card is huge, make sure it will fit in your case before a purchase. Be aware the card itself is 10.3 inches long, Amazon lists it as over 12 but that is in reference to the box it comes in, not the card itself. The card is also rather heavy, as you would expect for something so large, even though my case has plastic fasteners that would secure it in place I still had to use screws to keep it from sagging and putting pressure on the pins.

The only concern I had with this card was approximately one week after installed, the fan starting running very loudly even when not under load, I'm not sure why it started all of a sudden but it was easy to fix by going into the catalyst controller and un-checking the manual fan speed control box. Not a big deal but it was rather jarring to hear my computer sound like a wind tunnel on start up.

This card was my first GPU that was not an nVidia, and the selling point between the two for me was the the power consumption and temperature of the AMD cards. I've never had a problem with nVidia but so far I'm very impressed with the radeon 6870 and AMD is quickly capturing my brand loyalty.

This card is an amazing value, that will give you HD5870 performance at a much lower cost. In this price range, you cannot find a better current generation graphics card. I am running two of these in CrossfireX, and the performance is great. These cards scale really well in CrossfireX, even better than the Radeon 5800 series of cards. Plus, the 6800 series of GPU's also feature a better tesslation engine than the 5800 series, so you will see greater DirectX 11 performance. One of these cards is perfect for playing all of the newest games at HD resolutions, but with two of these cards, even GPU intensive games like Crysis and Metro 2033 run very well at 1080p. This card also has support for Direct2D, so you can accelerate programs that you use on a daily basis, like Firefox 4.0. This card also has support for the AMD Avivio video converting software that uses your RADEON GPU's as a processor to convert video, and all I have to say, is that 2 of these cards can convert 1080p HD video several times faster than my Phenom II X4 965 Quad-Core CPU overclocked to 4.3GHz, so if you do a ton of video encoding, then you may want to consider picking up 2 of these instead of a $1000 CPU. The fan on these cards is also very quiet even when the GPU is being fully stressed in FurMark. The fan only spins at around 35% when fully stressed. If you manually turn the fan speed up to 100%, it is extremely loud, so you are going to want to avoid overclocking this card with the stock cooler and fan, but the fan will never spin that fast in a normal situation. Overall, this is an amazing graphics card especially when considering the price of the card. If you can pick up 2 of them for CrossfireX, then you won't be disappointed.
