More About the Author

Michael Atchison is the author of the novel XL and the book True Sons: A Century of Missouri Tigers Basketball. His writing on collegiate sports and popular culture has appeared in Sports Illustrated, Basketball Times and The Providence Phoenix, among other publications.

During his previous career practicing law, Michael helped earn freedom for a man wrongly convicted of murder, aided basketball coaches who ran afoul of NCAA rules, and once stood in his office, stripped to the waist, and swapped clothes with veteran rocker Sammy Hagar. The other ninety-nine percent of the time he did things that some might think tedious.

Michael lives in Parkville, Missouri with his wife and two children.

Format: Kindle Edition
In the writing spirit of the rock and roll referencing Nick Hornby and man fantasy/humble reality tension of Johnathan Tropper, Michael Atchison has created a novel most 40 somethings will relate to. Although I am certain I did not catch them all, Atchison's work is peppered with enough musical references to satisfy both the novice and the most extreme of music obsessives asking questions like: "Beatles or Stones?" and alluding to the nostalgic power music has to vortex us back to the past simply by talking about "The Year of the Cat." Simultaneously, Atchison pays a quiet homage the beauty of married life and children through the simplicity of "baseball and ballerinas." A thoroughly enjoyable read with a writing style direct enough to read quickly but rich enough to leave you feeling full and satisfied.

Really enjoyed reading this book. Atchison's musical and geographical references, and his relational story-telling made this book impossible to put down. Loved it! Can't wait for the next one!!
