Temp Control Not Worth It, December 12, 2009
This review is from: Xion XON-MTR001B 5.25-Inch Color LCD Thermal Control Panel - Retail (Personal Computers)
This device does not work on all fans, so beware. I've found it is useable as a reference for temp control, though I doubt it is all that accurate. Most of all, it is so dim it is very difficult to see. In the daytime, it is nearly impossible to see. Visibility is better at night, but even at that, you have to look at it straight on. The pictures show virbrant colors, but it is about 20% of what the pictures show.

case fan controller, April 23, 2009
This review is from: Xion XON-MTR001B 5.25-Inch Color LCD Thermal Control Panel - Retail (Personal Computers)
Works, kind of. Had it running two fans, fine. Installed a third, things started going downhill. Turning down the speed of one fan would turn down all of them. Not good when one of them is the CPU! Looks great, but you have to look straight on to make out the display. Took it out and went with a basic knob controller and am happier now.

Poor design, February 1, 2011
This review is from: Xion XON-MTR001B 5.25-Inch Color LCD Thermal Control Panel - Retail (Personal Computers)
For the most basic small two-fan setup, this unit /might/ work. The reason it does not work on many fans is because the unit doesn't really control fan speed, it controls the voltage to the fan via wasteful resistance, which is an amateur design flaw by today's standards. It should use PWM to modulate the fan's full 12v power on and off to get the desired RPM.
Because this controller does not use PWM, it will not be able to power, or regulate, larger fans at low speeds. Many of these fans require a minimum voltage to run. If you drop below that threshold, no fan movement will occur. I have only had success with this controller running two small 3.5" fans.
I would not trust the unit to control temperatures in a critical system. My use model was not even inside a computer.
