5.0 out of 5 stars Synthpop Heaven, July 1, 2004

There are very few releases I've purchased in the past several years that grab me from the moment I first pop them into the cd player. This is definately one of them! XRV alone is a great song. The remixes are absolutely amazing. The track 8 remix - 'Domination mix' is unbelieveable and it wouldn't suprise me in the least if I heard it in clubs soon. The track 4 remix - 'Upstairs at Eric's' is a very very close second favorite. I also have to mention that 'Vinyl Bliss' and 'Oxygen' are great as well.

I wholeheartedly recommend this cd to anyone who can appreciate great music. Can't wait for more from TDOL!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh Face, June 23, 2004

I bought this CD on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised when I learned that in addition to several addicitve remixes were not one but three singles on this disc, each with its own charm and hook. The singers voice is breathy and dreamy, layered with two or three harmonies ranging from bass to soprano. This, blended with lush orchestral backing tracks and pounding beats, is further expanded in the Nevarakka and Upstairs at Eric's mixes. Gently plopped in the middle of the set is a piano/thump-driven Color Theory Unmix, where the singer's vocals and harmonies are pushed to the front of the mix. A jumpy Xtremix manages to create an entirely new track by rearranging vocal parts to fit the new mold, and I had goosebumps hearing the nod to the ghosts of Razormaid after a tour through The Domination Mix. At the end of it all, there simply isn't a throwaway cut on this whole disc. I recommend this to anyone who thinks that provocative synth-driven music is all but dead.

Very catchy tune - my favorite is the original dub (track 1). This is a band to watch. They are currently working on a full-length album. Check out the other track "Satellite", found on the "Synthpop for a Darkened Room 2" compilation album. Very, very good.
