Resistance is controlled by a "brake pad" that rides against the fly wheel which is controlled by a small motor and cable. Basically the brake pad does not have enough range of motion to make contact with the flywheel. I adjusted the set screw to max range and still no luck. The cable that controls the brake is not long enough.

They are sending me a new cable because THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR LABOR!. The manufacturer actually expects me to fix a machine that is brand new out of the box that I have never even been able to use due to a defect.

I have only been using it for about 3 weeks and all is well. very clean and slender piece of athletic equipment. was able to assembled with out any issue.

***UPDATE***

After less than 3 months of use, the gear motor went out. I Contacted customer service and was sent new gear motor, new display, and new cables. Replacement of the gear motor took 2.5 hours due to having to almost completely disassemble the rider around the fly wheel. Once I had the new parts installed and the rider back together, the display now randomly beeps and the buttons do not work. I am still in contact with customer support, but the rider has now been un-usable for 3 weeks. ***More to come

Assembly directions were not clear to me at first. Didn't realize that some hardware was already attached to a few elliptical pieces. Put together and was excited to use it but made this obnoxious squeaking noise immediately. Took apart and put together 3 more times. Still noisy and couldn't use it. Called manufacturer customer service and they said I should get it serviced. Thought since brand new they would cover it but they kept going back to me not having a warranty since purchased through Amazon. They sent parts but disappointed I had to pay for service to get a new elliptical fixed. Would have bought a more expensive elliptical if that were the case. If anyone has the same problem.... The service guy fixed by removing the plastic washer. Works fairly well now.

Only complaint about it's usage is that the resistance is too tight. Seems it's all or nothing. Also when trying to adjust the resistance, it adjusts for the whole program and not just the step you're on in the program. Will purchase a better elliptical after this one breaks.

Bought this for my wife and she's used it a bunch over the past three months. Ellipticals in general are expensive so it's tough to find a good one on a budget but we are very happy with this one. It works great and is very good quality. It doesn't feel cheap anywhere. And the workout options are nice - you can even create multiple profiles in case more than one person wants to track their time on it.

Works excellent and is very quiet. It was Also very easy to put together. If you are tall, the stride length may not be long enough.

This is a great elliptical. Was working fine for the first 5 days. It makes a loud squeaking noise every once in a while but the most irritating thing was the belt falling off. Took almost 2 hours to fix. I took the whole thing apart and the belt was so tangled it took half an hour just for that. The belt is so tight around wheel it was next to impossible to get back on track. To be honest I feel like this is going to continue to be an issue. I think next time I'll try a treadmill. But it's still a great machine for the price.
