Amazing build quality on this lock! Sensor is pretty sensitive and the alarm is wicked loud! It's slightly hurtful when close to it. Battery died within 6 months, when it starts to die it will make a cricket sound every little while. I replaced it and it's been working every since. The battery that came with it may have been old.

Otherwise, this lock is quick good!

It's the best investment you can make for security for your motorcycle or scooter. LOUD ass alarm, ppl who are complaying about false Alarms need to change the battery. You have to replace it every 6mo and they are easy to buy on amazon, $3. So it's a solid disc lock and in this 6mm size it ill fit any hole in any brake disc. Even if you get one of the leger ones, YOU MUST GET the XX model as the other models have the siren on the outside which is pointless bc you can cover it w ur hand and quiet it up. The XX series have the alarm in the inside so it CANNOT be silenced. This thing is worth it's weight in gold. Having a alarm system installed is pointless when you can buy this. The only next step in security I would take is one of those GPS LoJack units in case a theif is VERY DETERMINED and will just lift ur bike and put it on a truck. Also I HIGHLY recommend this color as the other ones chip. This silver one doesn't. If you want it to be bright, use a bright disc lock reminder cable by kryptonite (orange) or bully (yellow)

Pros:
1. Good finish and highly secure- cannot be picked or broken easily
2. Small enough to fit under a small pillion seat
3. Pretty hardy- used in rain, heat and near freezing temperatures without a problem.

Cons:
1. Alarm could be louder- wasn't enough of a deterrent to people who would still go and move the bike
2. Alarm sometimes kept getting triggered by itself- false alarms- which were very annoying. Contacted Xena- they said that they would send me a replacement part to fix that. Hasnt arrived and it has been more than 6 months.
3. The battery should be standard that can be found anywhere in the world.

This is a mass produced item costing only $70.00 and one should expect that occasionally there will be a defective unit. Mine was not and has worked as expected. I recommend lubricating all moving parts first thing with powdered graphite including the insertion opening for the key and its internals. I suggest that the alarm be dissembled and reassembled several times before activating the battery. Forty seconds is not a very long time when the battery is active before the alarm sounds, so familiarity with alarm use is key. After removing the alarm from the disk I always turned the key to a position where it was stopped and would not turn any further. Doing this means that the key slot is always aligned the same way and I don't fumble so much in removal each time. When placed on the front disk the alarm responds to movement of the handle bars but not very well to bumps against the bike in general. However, when placed on the rear disk the opposite is true. When not on the bike the locking plunger should not be closed and nothing should cover the reflector plate. If the reflector plate gets dirty the alarm will malfunction. This alarm produces a high pitched sound that will not penetrate walls well due to its low wattage and small speaker. It will, however, startle people near by and that is the best you can expect from just a "sound" alarm. If the sound is weak or false alarms occur I recommend replacing the battery as low current can cause malfunctions. Also, batteries are often not fresh from manufacture when bought in stores so you may have to shop some to find a really fresh one. If possible and not too inconvenient mount the alarm just "behind" the brake caliper with respect to forward motion of the disk. That way the bike can not be moved in a forward direction but an inch or so before the alarm will hang up on the caliper.

The unit seems solid and compact, and the alarm is fairly loud even though it's not super sensitive. It may not stop people from sitting on your bike. Nonetheless, my bike was still stolen with one of these on =(
