Enamel is chipping off rim on the inside of pot,
By Cyberella "Cyberella" (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews
This review is from: XXL Japanese Cast Iron Tea Pot 45 oz /BLK
I liked that this tea pot is cast iron, beautiful and heavy duty. However, the enamel on the inside of the pot at the top by the rim is flaking off. This conerns me as I wanted cast iron to avoid any weird toxins or "extra" weird stuff, especially an enamel paint!
I am disappointed it's coated cast iron since I was hoping to get a natural source of iron from the pot itself without a barrier like enamel. Since the pot is so beautiful I accepted it was enameled on the inside. If I had ever dreamth it would chip/flake so easily I would NOT have bought this. I never scoured or scrubed this pot. The black enamel flaked into my tea on the FIRST use. I now use this tea pot for heating potpourri ONLY. That is one expensive potpourri pot, but a beauty! I wish the manufactory would make a solid cast iron pot without an enamel. I can accept some degree of rust, but with proper care, this isn't a major issue anyway.
