This was my first introduction to this dude, and it was absolutely abhorrent, taxing and compellingly insane. Danny has a voice not quite like many other rappers around, he wails and whines, stretches his voice paper thin, constantly pressuring his vocal chords, pushing them to the limit without letting completely loose, for every layer of chaos in his voice, there's several more layers of restraint. Overall, the dude sounds like he's loosing his god damn mind over some ludicrously dope beats. This mixtape is quite narrow minded in terms of sonic or tonal shifts--but that's hardly a flaw here, the album is consistently loud, belligerent and unapologetic and never ceases to stimulate the listener in one way or another. Whether it be Danny's eccentric persona, the obnoxiousness and volatility of the lyrics, or the immediacy of the beats--the listener, whether they are enjoying the music or not, will no doubt be paying attention.

There is something wrong with this Universe!
Here we have the finest Hip Hop ALBUM of 2011, yet there are barely any reviews...

Wake up Sheeple! Danny Brown is the Truth!

He IS Kipling with a tooth missing.
He IS the Shakespeare of sixteens.
He IS Langston Hughes with a blew fuse and a screw loose.

Danny brings two things back to Hip Hop that it has been lacking lately.
Pure Poetry and Raw Emotion.

People claim they keep it real, however nobody keeps it realer than this Bruiser, MuFokin' Danny Brown.
Danny Brown chronicles life in the dirty D with elegance, clarity, wit, and intelligence.
The last time a Hip Hop album moved me this much was the first time I heard Dizzee Rascal's 2003 Opus 'Boy In Da Corner'.

It's been damn near ten years since I've heard Hip Hop that grabbed me and spoke to me like this!

The juxtaposition of Danny Brown's ill poetics in conjunction with the incredible beats from SKYWLKR and Company is like magic medicine for the Mind.

The sequencing of this album is phenomenal!

Danny comes straight out the gate with 'XXX' over a Paul White banger. This is a perfect intro.
I can hear it in my head right now.
Then those maximized snares from 'Skull Snaps' come in and Mr. Brown proceeds to further align himself with your neurons which are firing happily reveling in the debauched tale of too much too soon of 'Die Like A Rockstar'.
This is a truly stunning track.
As 'Die Like A Rockstar' ends,'Pac Blood' begins, taking a Brandun Deshay flip of 'Nautilis', Danny drops some of the best verses of 2011 here.
After the aptly titled 'Radio Song' is 'Lie4' a top notch SKYWLKR joint that I can really relate to because I just got my income tax swag.

What can I say about this album? I mean it is not something you play for your lady, but wow.. So much raw emotion in the tracks. I mean I jog, work and party to this music! Some people have trouble getting past his voice, but that is part of what makes this mans music so unique! His swag bursts thru every track talkin about how he parties, dresses and generally does what he wants. I mean the man got turned down by G-Unit cause he kept it real, you might not agree with everything he spews but this truly is a unique album by a great artist. He goes hard on every track like D. Rose in the paint. His previous work "The Hybrid" & "Black and Brown" are dope too! Dont sleep, BUY THIS ALBUM!

The vinyl album comes with a lyric sheet, perfect for shocking and terrifying your parents or grandparents. But beneath the initial shock value of Brown's music, there's a deep undercurrent of melancholy. Danny Brown's public persona is that of a sex-crazed, drugged out clown, but a closer look brings to mind the story about the comedian going to the psychiatrist and being told to buy a ticket to his own stand-up show to "cheer up."

This second solo effort is Danny Brown coming into his form. Daring, honest, hilarious even, but what's even more impressive is that he finds a way to mesh his voice well with some experimental beats.
The deluxe version includes three extra songs, which are the last three on the tracklist.

I been sleeping on Danny Brown for awhile. I heard him on the track 1train with asap rocky he had a nice verse. Heard him on a track with elzhi on the leftover mixtape his lyrics seemed erratic and stupid to me.I gave this mixtape a try out of curiosity this mixtape is sick!Beats are crazy, I like his more serious flow, but I like how he changes it up on some songs also. I was very surprised by the mixtape. It was very good highly recommended if you like real hip-hop not that pop music

One of the best rap albums I know. Almost no guests, just Danny Brown. Lyrics probably a little too sex focused to make it an all time classic but I can't stop listening.
