superb collection of upbeat songs, with diverse rhythms, October 8, 1998
By A Customer
I first encountered this CD in 1994, hearing the cut, NEW TRACKS IN THE DUST on Chicago's smooth Jazz station, WNUA. In Chicago, for several decades, there has existed the phenomena called "Stepping", formerly known as "Bopping". This is a dance style, cool, slick, and reminescent of a slower, less frenetic style of jitterbugging. NEW TRACKS IN THE DUST is a perfect stepping cut.
I then went out and bought the CD. I was immediately captivated by the cut, MY PERFECT LOVER, with its haunting melody, and deep piercing synthesizer backgrounds. Miguel Bose has a good voice, and excellent background vocals, giving latin rhythmn its rightful place in the annals of cool.
THE HURT PARTY is a rockers tune, seemingly playing for teenagers, but with lyrics far too mature for young people. Miguel sings, "we would box so unclever, ducking and weaving, a TKO...", describing the actions of two former lovers, one who has recently dumped the other, and the other pleading for a second chance. The music is frenetic, and the rhythm is superbly blended into the lyrics.
A good CD for listening and dancing.

After fourteen years, I finally found it..., March 22, 2002
In mid-1988, just after this album was released, the New Age station in Buffalo played "Big City", but never said who it was by or what it was called.
FINALLY I have found the song, which is just as haunting as I remember it, and have discovered an entire CD-worth of diverse, yet just as haunting, music the likes of which I have never heard before.
Miguel Bose may not be a native speaker of English, but his command of the language in song is impeccable. While the English lyrics may not do justice to the original Spanish, they fit better than one would expect.
If you weren't a fan before hearing this CD, you will be once you do.

As the English version, this CD worths a lot. The music from mid '80s makes me remember when I was a teen. Anyway, if you listen to Miguel Bosè one time, you have to turn into a fan! Buy it, if you can!!
