The blade clamp does not will not hold blades tightly enough to let them be adequately tensioned. Tension may be sufficient for cutting VERY thin stock, but I was using this to cut away waste on dovetails, per Cosman video. Blades immediately pulled out of the blade clamp and broke

Bought another fret saw without the rotating blade feature, and it works fine.

I would concur with the other reviewer here. Clamps were stamped sheet metal wing nuts that hurt the hands and still could not hold the blade. Handle did not align with the top. When I first got mine, I thought it was faulty and got a replacement-- and the replacement was equally misaligned. I got myself a German saw the next week.
For $25 that x-acto wants, instead, pay $20 and get a german/french/swiss saw from riogrande (or many another jewelery supply house). You'll do much better. I'm disappointed; the japanese usually build better things.

I suffer from what the other two reviewers do -- a saw frame that won't hold a blade to save its life. Whatever you do, skip buying this and find a better frame elsewhere. No need to spend money on this useless crap.

Not only is this a complete joke but it COSTS MORE! Ugh. What a waste. Take a good look at this one while you shop so you know what not to get.

There is only ONE redeeming quality of this saw, you can rotate the blade. I had to come back and add a star for that. IF ONLY they could of made the frame hold a blade better. The blades it comes are pretty good blades. Again, if only they could of made the frame better.

The wing nuts are small, don't stay tightened and the worst part is the adjustable frame clamp. It's just a tiny nut and bolt that only covers part of the arm. I machined a shoulder on the nut just to keep the frame from moving and breaking blades. Which helped but didn't completely work. It's complete garbage, most likely made by someone who never made or saw one before. I could rant all day about how bad this is, that's how bad it is. Just don't.

The only reason I didn't return this saw immediately is that I needed it for an urgent task. I therefore spent an hour making it fit for use.
The four pressed metal wing nuts have such sharp unfinished edges that applying slight force to them was painful. Applying enough force to tighten them would have caused a cut. Turning the handle clockwise is intended to lock the rotation of the blade: it doesn't, because the person who made it didn't understand that an unfinished ridge on a piece of pressed metal doesn't provide any friction. All of the pieces that should be at 90º to each other are at least 5º off; so are all the pieces that should be parallel to each other. Yet again, an article that was once a fine American product is now a miserable piece of Chinese crap.

I've wanted to pick up a new craft, so started metal working. I unfortunately got this saw a long time ago and only recently opened it and tried to use it so I can't return it. It is USELESS. The bottom clamp is not aligned with the top clamp, it will not hold a blade to save it's life, the metal nuts hurt your hands, and no matter how tight you get them, the blade bends and warps when cutting (because it's not held on tight enough). I wasted an hour trying to figure out what I was doing "wrong".
Why is this 23 dollars when far superior saws are 10.00?
I spent a lot of time creating templates and gathering my supplies and then I hit a wall with this crappy saw.
