Doesn't hold a charge!,
By
This review is from: Xantrex 852-1840 XPower Powerpack 300 Plus Portable Backup Power Source (Automotive)
I followed the charging instructions for the Power Pack 300 C. After 48 hours of AC charging, the light was still amber instead of green. The manual said, if the light was amber, wait 15 mins and press a button on the unit that would reveal the charging level. I did this and the unit said it was fully charged. The Power Pack ran a 40 watt table lamp for 4 hours as promissed! However the next time I charged the system the same thing happened. The light was Amber. After waiting 30 mins I pressed the button on the unit but this time it registered "RED". I moved the unit to another outlet and charged it for another 48 hours. Same Result (RED)! I plugged in the 40 watt table lamp and it lasted only 20 mins. I love the idea Xantrex had for a portable electronic generator, however their execution came up a little short on this one. The unit is going back!

Good overall; takes a long time to charge,

Overall, I am pleased with this product. However, I ran into the same issues addressed by Ron Campbell in his review. Although the manual states it takes about 40 hours to recharge using the AC adapter (plus an additional 15 hours if you don't see the green light after 40 hours), it took more like 72 hours before I got the green light indicating full charge. The owner's manual states that longer charge times are indicative of less than 120 volts at the wall outlet. I find it hard to believe that my three-year-old house does not have 120 volts at the outlets, but I guess that is possible.I bought this to use as an emergency jump-start unit and to add air to my tires after they are deflated for offroad travel. It seems to suit my needs. I would recommend this product, but be aware that the charge times may take twice as long as those stated by the manufacturer.

Best invention since sliced bread!,

I have sleep apnea and need a machine to help me breath when I sleep. During power failures, I have had to stay up until the power came back on until I received this machine as a birthday gift. It will run my CPAP machine for more than 8 hours!
