5.0 out of 5 stars 250 glorious gigs!!!! April 7, 2010

Item arrived a day early which was excellent. Packaged nice and kept quite secure in box. Instructions for transferring all my stuff from 120 gb hdd to the 250 couldn't have been simpler. I would reccomend this product to anybody with an expanding game collection who would like to install games on their hard drive. The reason i do it is to prevent the system from overheating and getting a RED RING. My system runs quieter now and my load times have been cut drastically and my stystem overall performs much better. 5 stars all the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars More storage...thank you! March 23, 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Is it a little expensive? Sure. However its cheaper than the old 120 gig hard drives were so MS has at least come down on their $ to gig ratio.

This thing is exactly what I needed. I download alot of tv shows from Xbox Live. I also download a ton of Xbox Live Arcade Games, a lot of downloadable content to expand my games, and I also purchase full games. My 120 gig hd was always full. That wont be an issue now. This couldnt have come at a better time. Lots of big releases from last year are now getting lots of new content and that takes storage. If your a serious gamer and do a lot of downloading buy this NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced HDD that is quick and painless to install March 31, 2010

As much as I'd like to give this product a lower rating because of price, I'm not going to do so because I'm strictly rating the product.

Pros:
More storage for gamers like me who like to install their games to their hdd.
Won't get you banned from xbox live. Not too long ago, there was a massive ban for people using non-microsoft hard drives.
The instructions on transferring data and installing the new hdd were quick and easy.

Cons:
Only one I can think of is price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something U Might Want To Consider... April 10, 2010

I recently picked up this HD, because my 20 GB HD just wasn't cutting it anymore. Thankfully and due to some unexpected finances, I got delayed in getting it or I would have ended up paying more for the 120 GB HD. Sometimes things just work out, I guess.

Anyway, what I think people should consider who are shunning this HD for whatever reason is that our video game has begun to be rocked by digital downloads. Already popular services like Games On Demand are eliminating physical media.. the days of having a game disc to have to put in your console to play or take to a friend's are near over. And to further this along, Microsoft recently began allowing you to store game date and your profile on a very portable USB drive. Why? Because that was the one real problem keeping digital to really dominate.. the inability to take your games on the go. NOW, you can.. as with the USB drive you can take your digital games to a friend's, while they remain LINKED to your personal profile, showing that you are still the owner of the game.

So what this all means is that digital downloading is going to be on the rise and you're going to need a HD with a LOT of space available. right now, the 250 GB HD is the best out there. sure, maybe the price is a bit steep, but in the long run, you're going to want (and NEED) the extra space.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not really a Microsoft product June 26, 2010

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY (G Dreamer) - the drive they sent me is NOT an authentic Microsoft product. It was not packaged in a microsoft materials, but a cardboard box from China. Buyer beware with this company - they are a fraud. I am returning my drive today for a refund and I will go to Best Buy and pay full retail for a real product. Amazon should block them from the site.

It is what it is, its a proprietary drive for your Xbox360 and I am quite happy they moved up to 250gb from 120gb for the same price point. Ipods also have proprietary hard drives at a cost per GB that is much more than what an off the shelf external would be. If you don't want to buy it, then don't buy it, but the product itself is fine. You also have the choice to not play Xbox360 and save the reviews from your whining - you can instead put on some camo while running around your yard with your hand as a gun and make pewpew sounds all while on your mobile harassing your friends that you have more skillz than them.

P.S the Dashboard update coming in the spring to allow USB storage will allow 2 3rd party devices up to 16GB a piece. So its not like you can just go plug in a WD once the dashboard update is in. 40 bucks for 16 GB is better than 50 for 512MB so that's a win

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but careful where you buy! April 22, 2011

This is an excellent product, I had a 20gb on my original xbox, and decided to upgrade because those ~14 gb of available space were really nothing. The item might be a little pricey, but considering it's a Microsoft product and that it includes the transfer kit, it's really not that bad.

Now, beware! I bought it from Deals4U, and it was the authentic Microsoft item, but there are some sellers that sell 3rd party hardware, without the transfer kit, claiming the item doesn't come in the original packing because of shipping costs. That's BS. Make sure your seller specifies it's an original item in it's original packing and with the transfer kit.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to fill my new drive with DLC and demos!
