Major Issue outweighs the pro's of this system,
This review is from: Xbox 360 Elite Console (Electronics)
I have had this for 20 months. It was a 5 star console until recently, I experienced some flickering of the video which was not attributed to the hdmi cable or tv(sound was fine). The next morning I couldnt get any video or sound. I said fine, the hdmi input crapped out. Ill just use the HD AV cables. Well soon I find out that the xbox does not display picture or The rebate only covers the flashing red light problem for 3 years, but no other issues. I called the geek squad and they said the solution for any output problems is to buy a new console.
I used this mostly for gaming. I had about 90GB free when it died. If I could go back I would get the regular xbox because the free space is pointless if the console dies within the first 2 years. I am very angry that this problem is not covered for longer. I am a heavy gamer so I think I got good use out of it. However, something this unreliable should not cost this much!

Loved the System when it Worked.,

This system rocked when it worked. It worked for a year and a half before 3 rings of death got me. Sent it to Microsoft for repair, 2 weeks later received another console, but it wouldn't turn on. Sent that one back, waited 5 weeks, received my original console back. This time instead of three rings, the console would not power on. Sent that one back. 2 weeks later, received the exact same console, still would not power. WTF? I feel as if no one checked it out, they just repackaged it and sent it right back. Went back to MS website to request another repair, but my console's registration number won't work.
So basically I buy this system, spend hundreds on games, then system dies still under warranty, yet it doesn't get repaired or replaced. So now I have a dead system and an email to microsoft demanding an explanation. The said thing is I really liked this system. I do have a PS3, which by the way died on me as well, but that one was past warranty, so I bought a slim instead. So far no problems with the PS3 slim. But I had way more Xbox games, so now I have to buy only PS3 games. I am not a fanboy of any one system. I like having best of both worlds, but how can I remain an Xbox fan if I keep getting screwed by Microsoft?

i ordered this elite console and the first day i played it, it had problems! the video output is all pixelated and glitchy looking. i tried it on several different monitors/tv's/projectors and the same problem.
i would not recommend this product to anyone unless you want to give it as a joke or just waste your money.

If you buy this you're a bigger idiot then I am. My son threw a fit till I bought him one for X-mass. I bought it on 12-9-09, he opened it 12-25-09 it is 1-20-10; less then a month.
Guess what? It is broke, and Microsoft said it will take 3 weeks for the return box they are sending me to get here. So 3 weeks just to send it back to get fixed, and who knows how long before we get it back from them. My son did everything right. He researched how to keep it cool, how to take the best care of it. It doesn't matter what you do, this will break, and if your lucky you will get to play it a total of one month before it goes out. I am getting it fixed, selling it, and getting out of my XBOX 360 nightmare! Buy a Wii or PS....DO NOT BUY THIS piece of CRAP!

Re:the Red Ring Of Death,

Let's face it, the x box 360 wether it be the elite, or just the 360 is bound to get the red ring of death sooner or later. Why does the xbox suffer from this you may ask-overheating. Microsoft we're in a hurry at one point to get this out to be in competition with the sony playstation, so they cut cornors and added a smaller heatsink-I have also seen some xboxs with very little or no thermal compound paste on the processors themselves. Also, I learned that when you send in your xbox to microsoft for repair, they actually do NOT "fix" your system, they just swap out one for the other(95% of the time they will send you a refurbished console). Can the red ring of death problem be fixed you may ask? the answer is YES! you can do it yourself-look around online for fixes(videos), like I have seen. You can also mod your system to your liking-Watercooling, extra fans, so this problem will not return. Before you ask if I have an x box, the answer is no, I do not. I just wanted to give people on here some friendly tips on how to resolve the red ring of death problem forever, so they can get back to what they enjoy-Gaming. That's it from me for now. Take care all.
