1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly over-priced non functional cooling unit.
Simply put if your Xbox is having overheating issues and you are looking to solve them with this product. Look elsewhere! I have had limited freezes due to over-heating mostly because I keep my window open to allow very cold (45-50 degrees) breezes splash onto the rear of my machine. Now, your paying 20.00$ for a 4$ CPU fan and probably 2$ worth of plastic. Not only that...

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, July 26, 2006

This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
This is an awesome product.my old 360 was defective and i got a replacement from microsoft, then all the sudden it began freezing up alot(due to heat issues), so i had already had the intercooler from when it came out back in march to support my old 360,and i snapped it on and everythings good.... then recently an episode came up where the disc reader was getting very hot(i got discs out that felt like they had been sitting in a desert lol) ,i targeted buying the fanstand because it shoots air up , instead of just sucking the hot air out like the intercooler does. i had an extra 20 on my hands so i went out and bought this fan stand, and it just does wonders for my 360, when you do a horizontal layout of your 360 you lose the side vents(sides that say xbox360) , but when you have the fanstand you regain the side vents and the bottom one + a fan for the bottom, this fan is really quiet too.the fan is powered by the back usb port, but its a passthrough plug so you dont lose a port (lifesaver if you have the xbox360 wireless adapter)(i use the back port for my ipod) the minor cons i have about this product are-- 1. the fan has a manual switch , no auto on or off(thats a minor due to the fact that i act amish and get up to turn my 360 off), and 2 theres only one fan in the bottom , in the intercooler theres 3 . the display picture doesnt do this product it's justice so therefore im posting my own customer pictures, so go take a look for yourself.I hope this review has influenced your decision in a positive way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap & effective way to keep your Xbox 360 cool, February 6, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
The Pelican Xbox 360 Fan Stand is a nice piece of hardware designed to cool your 360 system and help prolong the life of the system. The standard picture shown of the device doesn't really do it justice.. the actual device is the same color of your Xbox 360, so it matches almost perfectly. There is an on/off switch on the back of the device and the USB plug has an input port built in so you wont loose a USB port, very handy for those with Wireless adapters.

The device also has a place to house your media remote and 2 games (1 if you're using the remote holder ) The fan pushes a decent amount of air for its size and is very quiet. When using your Xbox you wont hear it at all. Overall this is a very cheap and effective way to keep your system cool and potentially prolong its life span. A very good investment indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fan's a Must-Have for XBox 360 Owners, January 14, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
If you've got an XBox 360, you know exactly why you need a fan stand. This unit gets very hot, and the built in fan - while loud - just isn't up to the task of keeping it cool.

The unit is designed very simply. You sit your 360 into this stand, and it cools the unit from below. You can put one game box to the right side, and your remote to the left. Really, that's not why you get the unit though :) It's all about the fan.

If you haven't been watching the news or hanging out with other gamers, the XBox 360 is VERY prone to crashing and completely melting down due to heat issues. Part of this might be that gamers lay their XBox 360s down on the ground - blocking all the vents so the system can't get normal air flow - or they jam their unit into a corner where the heat builds up. This system really needs to have ample air cooling around it and be in a vertical position. This stand helps to make sure you get that vertical position and that you have extra cooling. You REALLY want to keep the unit - like any computer or electronic device - away from lint, dust and other air-junk. Hopefully you are vacuuming frequently - and if you have a carpeted floor - have the unit on a piece of wood or something else to protect it.

By default the unit is USB powered so that you can plug it into the XBox 360 and then plug an USB item into the fan. However, it's sort of silly to make the XBox 360 work harder (and get hotter) to then power a fan to cool it down :) It's much better to plug the fan into the wall directly so that the XBox 360 gets as cool as possible while the fan draws its power from the wall. Most gamers have the necessary USB wall plug to handle this pretty easily - and if you don't, it's a cheap item to get.

The only real down side is that the fan has a manual on switch, but in the grand scheme of things, that's not a huge issue especially since you want it to turn on and off independently of the XBox 360. Also, I suppose you could complain about the fan's quiet noise, but since the XBox 360 is already a noisy machine, that's pretty much a wash.

Considering how much money an XBox 360 costs, and how frequently the average owner plays with it, it is VERY worth it to keep it cool and running well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Feature May Not Be The Cooling, March 12, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
As every Xbox 360 owner will tell you, the device generates a lot of heat. The Xbox 360 needs plenty of ventilation in order to cool itself off, and this product does appear to get the job done. The fan is quiet, and as other reviews have said, you don't lose a USB port in order to hook it up. It should be noted that the cord is only long enough to use the USB port in the rear of the Xbox 360. I also like having two areas to store either a game or the remote control. I actually don't recommend storing games in the side pockets as it seems to block a section of ventilation holes that the native cooling fan uses. So, the fan works (quietly), you don't lose any connection ports, and you get a bit of extra storage....but my favorite feature is the extra stability you get with the stand. I have a two year old in the house and since I have the Xbox in exposed (in order to give it enough air to breathe and keep cool), the extra width on the base keeps the 360 stable in the vertical position. Overall, the stand is priced right and definitely worth the price. It would be nice to see a temperature gauge as an added feature. If a user could see the difference the fan makes, this product would sell itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's pretty good, August 26, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
I bought this item from Gamestop and I have three things to say: 1. don't be fooled by the color, it isn't really grey, it perfectly matches the 360's color. 2: whatever you do, DON'T PUT THIS ON THICK CARPETING! All the people who complain that the fan stand blows lint and etc. into the system puts the fan stand on thick or shaggy carpeting. I put my 360 fan stand carpeting and I simply put a small piece of plywood underneath the stand. This prevents the 360 from taking in any dust. 3: the fan stand really work in every aspect that the description tells you. Ever since I bought my fan stand, my 360 is noticeably cooler after I turn it off and it doesn't wobble nearly as much before the fan stand was bought. The only drawback: it isn't auto-off. There is a small manual switch to turn it on and off. So if your one of those people who are 100% crazy about the wireless feature consider the NYKO intercooler (that's auto-on).

Bottom line: For the average person who wants to extend the life of their 360. But reconsider it for anyone who ABSOULUTLY cares about the 360's wireless features.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pelican Xbox 360 Fan Stand, April 26, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
I have owned this for over a week and let me just say that it was a worthy investment. It cools the temperature of the 360 even when it is off. The usb connecter allows me to connect my mp3 player that would not fit before. The only complaint I have is that it does not turn on or off automatically.

this product is very good; it cools down the 360 noticeably well and it provides storage for two games. like a previous reviewer has said, the picture on this page does not do any good; the actual product is about the same color as the 360. highly recommended!

2.Looks good.

3.Keeps the 360 steady.

4.I tested the temperature drop, this product keeps your Xbox 360, 10 degrees cooler than without it.(in Farenheit)Prolonging the life of sensitive electronic components.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good actually, March 7, 2006

This review is from: Xbox 360 Fan Stand (Video Game)
I bought this swivel stand for the xbox 360 and i must say that it does match the 360 color exactly and does cool down your 360 although i would have liked it to have more fans thats only reason i gave a 4 i wasnt looking for a place to store my games and its not very handy to store your games thier anyway because i noticed that if you play your 360 for at least a 5 or more hours constantly the sides heat up a good amount, thus the games box plastic tends to bubble up as plastic tends to do when exposed to heat but it does fit the memory cards and remote pretty cool and no problems thier, i bought this item for 19.99 its 9.99 here eithier way its a good product and good price especially if you can mod it to have more fans that be cool :P

Well, with all the unofficial gadgets for the 360 floating around, I purchased this one instead of the intercooler because I needed something to keep it stable as well as an extra fan, even if it is a slow, cheap one. (I still might invest in the intercooler later, but this had priority as I must keep my 360 on the carpet due to space issues.)

However, there was one very simple goodie that really makes this stand worth it, even without the fan. The fan stand is set up with many side-vents, basically allowing more air intake from the bottom of the 360 for those of us who must leave it on the floor. NICE!

The extra storage spaces for a remote and a memory card are a nice touch. For the record, I would not use the game/DVD storage spot while the 360 is turned on, but it would indeed make a convenient spot to leave a disk if you're spending a lot of time on one game.
