I don't think Nick "Master Modder" even bought one of these. He doesn't seem to understand what the product is. (...He shouldn't have even written that review.)

If P. Hoppes "Rhino" wanted a chrome faceplate, he should have bought a damn chrome faceplate. They do sell them and they're usually cheaper. His complaint was irrelevant.
I don't know what the hell Eric L. Du expected. The paper is fine. I don't see how any other quality would look better. It's all about how good your printer is. I also don't see a problem with laying it on it's side, (even though I personally keep mine vertical).

I have a fairly decent printer and my Xbox currently has a gorgeous painting of H.R. Giger's alien creature gracing the front of it, thanks to this awesome kit. It's unbelievably easy to use. Just set your printer to 8.5 X 14 legal paper and it will print fine. The software is very, very simple. You pick an image or images, lay them out the way you want them, then you can grayscale, sepia, invert, shrink, enlarge, or rotate the images.

This kit serves it's purpose. If it sounds good to you, buy it. Pay little attention to these negative reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome unit, July 16, 2007

I got this a few months ago and I just used the pre-printed ones because I did not feel like printing new ones.

The other day I went online and discovered this site:
[...]

It has a bunch of custom faceplate covers made by people from all over the world. There are some REALLY NICE looking faceplates there. I decided to do a few and they came out great. Its a little bit of a pain putting it on but once you do they look PRETTY GOOD.

Also the fact that you can MAKE YOUR OWN is awesome.
To those who say the paper quality isnt that great, I think its ok.
If you REALLY want better quality just get some photo paper (8 X 11), tape two pieces together, and print it out. Though you will have to cut out the required openings, it will look better.

I am satisfied with the paper it came with. Maybe next yr nyko will come out with glossy photo paper with the pre-cut spaces.

a great product and less than most faceplates that you cant change

Not sure what the other person was talking about but i highly recommend this product. If you set it up vertical (who does that?) then maybe its not great but other than that where else can you have 15 custom made faceplates for 15 to 20 bucks! I set mine horizontally and its no problem. The faceplate is great quality and durable like the original. If you have a decent inkjet printer then you can make some awesome designs with the software from Nyko. Mine are all colorful and easy to see.

The clear layer of the face plate is quite thick and bulky, and not the easiest to remove from the dark grey faceplate. The paper isn't glossy, but the fact that the plastic is, makes it more difficult to see the designs than it should be.

The paper itself is thick, and has slotted cuts everywhere so that it can mold to the shape of the faceplate, the pieces removed for all of the different slots are oversized and a good deal of the grey faceplate will show through.

I can't reccomend this product unless you're willing to go with the very cheapest vendors.(I got mine for like 5$, so it's no huge loss). It's a case of getting what you pay for I suppose.

As far as customizing a 360 face plate, Decalgirl would be the way to go, with nice glossy vinyl coverings. They even do custom jobs, faceplate, controller, and both the other sides of the XBOX, plus, if you do a custom job and they want to use it in their store, they'll give you a freebie.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth $20, April 5, 2006

This thing is so not worth the $20 you will be forking over. The paper quality is very cheap. So when you print things out, even with the best of the best printer, the result will look very dull and pretty much not as great as you would get off $10 TSZ face plates.

Also note that the plastic cover that is required to tighten the paper used for the design will hinder any type of verticle stand and keep it from being "fit". Also, the plastic has small side plastic tabs that will not keep your 360 flat horizontally.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's great!, May 18, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 GameFace (Video Game)
Ever wanted to put your favorite image onto the front of your XBox? (Favorite game character, movie star, art (anime?), favorite motorcycle, whatever...) Well, faceplate manufacturers are not going to make anything so specific for you. It's all generic stuff. You used to have to be pretty handy with an airbrush and have awesome painting ability to get the faceplate you REALLY wanted.

Well, Nyko has made it about as easy as it's going to get. You just print out the image you want, snap it into the cover, and BAM! You've got exactly what you wanted. Others here have complained that the included Nyko Gameface paper is poor quality and isn't glossy. So what? Use super high-end glossy photo paper then! Use whatever paper and printer you want! Then use the included paper from Nyko as a template to show you where to cut the holes. It's just not that hard. Photo paper still snaps into the faceplate case just fine. I wasn't sure the thicker photo paper would mold to the contours of the face, but it does perfectly and looks flawless.

Nyko kept the software simple so that there is very little you need to understand to operate it correctly. It does what it needs to, is super easy to use, and does a fine job. If you don't like it, use any image editing program you like! Print an image approximately 3 3/4" x 11 1/2", then cut it out! Done! (2 of your faceplate designs will fit onto one sheet of legal size paper, or 4 will fit the Super B size paper, if your printer handles 13" wide paper. You could even use the standard 8 1/2 x 11 size, but your print just won't quite go end to end on the faceplate. The grey ends just end up looking like designer style stripes and are not a deterrent at all.) If you print from your image editing program, you can use the maximum resolution that your printer is capable of, so the images turn out perfect. You have never seen any faceplate in any store that is anywhere near as cool as the ones you can make for yourself. And you could make a different faceplate for every day of the year if you wanted to.

Someone said the faceplate doesn't allow the 360 to lay flat. Well, I'm looking at my 360 on the table right now, and it's sitting perfectly flat. Don't know what that guy was talking about. And none of the other complaints have any validity to them, either. There just isn't anything wrong with this product, and a whole lot right about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unlimited customization, April 2, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 GameFace (Video Game)
I have to say i LOVE this product. I purchased it for $10 at TOYS 'R' US and i got MORE than my moneys worth of it. I started with just the inserts that came with it. I eventually went to the Nyko website and found that there is a community on there for exchanging custom made displays for free. I have since then started making my own.
I have nothing but the highest review for this. I have suggested that several friends get it and the ones that have love it too. Some people have said that the photo editing program for making new displays isn't amazing. I do agree but it does what it does. It comes with a good amount of options for editing pictures and if you REALLY want to do some complex photo editing while making a display. I suggest you do what i do. Use what ever professional photo editor you have and muck around with the photo and then when you get that done you can upload it onto the display maker and customize it to fit and you should have NO problem.
Even at full price it is more than worth it. Hell you are paying 10-20 dollars for not one not two but more than 15 displays. A normal display for 360 costs that much if not more and you are just stuck with the one. This you have almost unlimited faceplates.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is the worst thing ever. One Star because you can't give 0!, May 17, 2006
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 GameFace (Video Game)
Lets start by stating the huge flaw. It states and shows on the packaging a "Chrome baseplate" (the reason I bought it) but it's not Chrome! the only thing that is Chrome is the button. And while I'm one the button let me add that this thing blocks the majority of the light the button shows. So even in a lighted room it is very hard to see. The Paper is cheap. I would have rather have paid more for glossy paper to have sharp pictures. While I'm on that the program is lame. You can only scale your image, as far as size goes and that only goes so far. The Images that came with it are screwed-up. they were all printed upside down. I'll take this P.O.S. back and try for the othe design where you do it online and the send it to you. Maybe that will be better. BAD NYKO!! BAD!! If you can't get it right don't do it! By the way I voiced my opinion to Nyko and they said they would send me more crappy paper for my troubles. Yea like that fixes anything.
