First off, try not to read other reviews that only refer to not getting receipts and manufacturer's defects. If you have played a Guitar Hero or Rock Band game, this is just a given that some of us are going to have to return an item or two. It happened to me on Gears of War, it happens to everyone.

That being said, this game should be reviewed on the game itself with a little thrown in about the quality of the guitar.

The game is excellent, and getting 4.5 out of 5 and 9 or 10 out of 10 from all the game reviewers. You can use your xbox live avatar, you can create rockers just like before, all your favorite rockers are back, there are a load of fun and new achievements, the ability to jump into songs midstream, and the run on sentence goes on and on. As many series have done, they are constantly coming up with new feature and taking out old features.

In guitar hero I think they have done better than World Tour and improved on some of the complaints with the game and the guitar. I was hesitant to buy a guitar with the new slider neck, but having tried it a few times now my only compaint is that is hard to switch back and forth, which is caused by inexperience only and will get better. The new design is cool looking, works well, and combines nicely with the game. And getting free Van Halen coming my way in 6 weeks is a nice feature as well.

There will be future reviews with more depth, but for now a week after this came out there needs to be at least one review that isn't just a receipt complaint. I am positive you can print receipts from amazon, so not even sure how that is an issue.

I just got this game and it's amazing!

I'm not gonna review this based on tracklist, cause everyone have different opinions, but i'm reviewing it entirely

First: Hardware
Pretty decent guitar, great improvement the ability to detach the neck to the body, it really helps carrying it. The touch track it's great, pretty responsive and gives extra funcionalities like Slap-bassing and wah-wahs.
It looks the most solid one from the series and it has a good wheight and size.

Secondly: Game
I've not played GH: World tour, but since GH: 3, Aerosmith and all. this game seems GREAT!
you may play with your 360's avatar and you can also customize your own rocker (leeched from Rock band, so what? it makes this game great), the tutorials cover pretty much the new aspects of the game and there is the GH Studio, where you can Jam songs and even create your own song!! This last feature seems great, it's kinda deep and it's not soo easy to work with it at first, but i'm sure it's that way so you can do almost any song you want! and you don't even have to have the drums hardware to record it on GH Studio. It's great also for just Jamming, practicing wah-wahs, bass slaping and soloing. NICE!

Being late on the hip circuit, I purchased this game and an additional controller for my 16 year old son's Christmas present, and it is one of the better video game purchases I've made.

First of all, the game is very easy to learn - which is one of the reasons why whenever we play, everyone in the family gets involved. Whenever we have a gathering, this game presents a sure way to get shy guests to mingle a bit. The graphics are seemless and the music selection is excellent - containing a cross section of oldies and new releases. There should be something that appeals to everyone, with a whole range of skill-levels.

You can choose from the games pre-selected rock stars (with females represented in good measure, by the way), or you can build your own. As you win, you acquire small extras like new guitars and other accessories - as well as unlocking additional known stars as Shirley Manson and Johnny Cash. I found myself playing this for hours on certain days.

So what is this game not? For one thing, it is not a substitute for learning how to play a musical instrument for real. At best, it might get a reluctant child interested in doing so, but really it's not what the game is for.

A few other gripes - very minor. Your band does not taylor itself to the actual song with regard to your lineup. This results in the unrealistic (and perhaps unintentionally amusing) side effect of a female rock-star singing a Megadeth song, for example. Also, the videos are canned and not very interactive. You will hear booing when you don't hit notes, but the crowd will still be jumping up and down in a frenzy. Also, being a guitarist myself, I found some of the "button" progressions on a few songs illogical and not in line with the music.

The hardware seems sturdy enough. We've been playing for a good month now on and both of the guitars are still in perfect working order. No qualms there.

Overall I would highly recommend for anyone who wants a family friendly interactive game experience that everyone can participate in.

I bought this product as a Christmas present. I am happy to report, on Christmas morning, he opened this present and has played with his new Guitar Hero 5 for many hours. I received product in just a few days packed very well. Nothing makes you happier then seeing a child open a present and have fun with the present inside.

Been playing non stop since i got it!! It was a little touchy when I first put it in but now it works fine!! great game.

Well firstly i'd like to thank user ishortem for shipping an hour after placing the order!

The game itself is AMAZING best Guitar hero game I've seen in a while, the guitar takes a little practice getting used to but overall its much better than the old ones!

I would strongly recommend getting a copy for the family.

I received the Guitar Hero 5 bundle. Out of the box, there were hanging issues with the DVD (play or copy to hardware drive) in our Xbox 360. Other DVDs worked fine. Because it was new, I called Activision. Their policy is - if there are physical issues on the DVD, they charge me $20. I was not willing to accept that. After all, it could be damaged on return.

The customer support effort was even worse. I asked to speak to the manager about the policy and I was put on hold then hung up on. I wasn't willing to accept the $20 fee being decided by a company that shipped me a defective product.

So I called back - more poor customer service from a new rep. I was not allowed to speak to the manager, the policy manager, any manager or even get the mailing address to voice my complaints about this policy to avoid potential payment.

In short, Activision taught me what their real policy is - they don't care about their customers. All I wanted was a replaced DVD that was defective when I got it ... without any fees.

Returning the product via Amazon now ... $100 going elsewhere.

I needed a new guitar since my orig Rockband wired controller bit the dust. It was cheaper to buy this combo game/controller pack than it was to just find the controller by itself. Very happy with the quality. I've had it about a year now very happy with it - no issues.

First of all let me say that I am an avid Guitar Hero fan.....but this just was unacceptable. When I ordered the game from "GoCrazyGames" I ordered next day delivery, but apparently UPS doesn't do next day delivery in my area and the seller was nice enough to contact me personally and go over other shipping options. So I got the game two days after I ordered it and was very excited to play it.

(This is not the seller's fault, just the manufacturer's fault)

I sync the new controller with the XBOX 360 and put in the disc, which the XBOX 360 then tells me that it cannot read the disc. At first I think that maybe my XBOX 360 has finally gone bad.....so I put in my other GH games including GH World Tour (the game preceding GH5) and GH Warriors of Rock (the game after GH5) and they worked fine. I even put in some if my most scratched up discs and they still worked but GH5 wouldn't. So I have a bum disc.

However, I mainly ordered the bundle package because I needed a new controller after my last three all died on me (each after about a year's use). So the controller worked fine for a few days but now it seems to spaz out every now and again. For example: I had noticed that occasionally it seemed to do an extra strum that I did not do. Now, I'm not the expert at GH, but I can 5 star almost any song on hard, and when it started acting fishy I knew it wasn't me. So I just tested thing out in the pause window doing a repetitious sequence of moderately fast up and down strums and occasionally pressing the yellow/blue/orange buttons (not red/green for obvious reasons). I noticed that the highlighted selection sometimes skipped up or down a few selections instead of just alternating between two (like it added an extra strum).

All in all, I'm just saying "buyer beware". I would advise that if you were to purchase this bundle pack, that you do it locally instead of online so that if you were to have issues you can drive to the store and let them have a look at it instead of having to wait to ship the item back and wait for a new one to ship in.
