From reading the reviews i want to set people straight. THIS IS NOT A USB CABLE. The Kinect has a proprietary connector that is similar to USB. There are two ways to connect your Kinect to your XBOX. There is one cable that comes out of the back of the Kinect, this cable has this proprietary connector im talking about. If you have an old XBOX 360 you don't have this proprietary connector so you have to use one of the USB inputs, this being said when you do this an extra power supply must be used to power the Kinect. The power supply is a Y pig tail with one end that plugs into the cable that comes from the kinect and the other plugs into the wall. If you have a new XBOX 360 that is Kinect ready then it already has the proprietary connector so there is no need for the extra power supply cable. This being said the extension cable would go in between the Kinect and the power supply cable for an old XBOX 360 and between the Kinect and the XBOX for a new XBOX 360. My understanding why they introduced this proprietary connector is because of power restraints of USB. I haven't heard if it still has length limitations like USB of 5 meters. Even for this cable i thing a price tag of $50 is steep but i buy all my cables from monoprice.com. BestBuy is still selling HDMI cables for $100 so that makes this look like chump change.

This is the only cable that will work with the XBox 360 S Kinect package. You cannot use any other off-brand USB cable (I've tried). So if you bought a XBox package with the Kinext sensor included you will need this cable. The cable works great but it's too short (9ft). I tried to order two and daisy chain them together but it didn't work. So unfortunately my Kinect sensor bar has to always be with 16ft of the console. Bad situtation for a home theater. Thought I would pass along the info so others don't learn the hard way.

I purchased the kinect extension cable to run my kinect on a tv separate than the tv that i usually play my xbox on. My one tv is on one side of the stairs leading to the upstair of my home and the other tv is wall mounted on the other side of the stairs. There are two walls separating the tvs, but with the purchase of the extension cable, I had plenty of wire to make my idea work. The device still works well and now my family can use the kinect in the room where there is plenty of room to play without having to move the xbox and clutter up the room. It is very neat because the only thing to be seen in the kinect room is the tv and the kinect. People wonder where the xbox is, until I tell them about the kinect extension cord. Great product. The seller of this item is a nice gentleman as well. I received the wrong item at first and he gave me a full refund right away and sent me the original item I ordered free of charge along with a shipping envelope for the item I received which I gladly shipped to the rightful owner. Problem solved. I recommend this item and I would recommend purchasing from this dealer.

This is not made by Microsoft, has typo on the box ("Microooft"), and did not work for me. It also says right on the box: "This product is not licensed, designed, sponsored, endorsed or manufactured by Microsoft.". Don't waste your money. The description on amazon is a lie.

Like others I thought I would give it a try due to the low cost! It did not work at all, do not buy.

This extension cable is a complete life saver for any home theater room that your equipment will not be directly underneath your screen. I have used this several times to route the Kinect sensor's wiring to a closet or other hidden area where you don't see the equipment. Fantastic!

After doing some research and reading other comments I thought I would give this cable a shot considering how much cheaper it is compared the Microsoft version. It arrived today, I plugged it in and it starts the kinect and then it fails. I have tried every variation, (plugging into the back USB, putting the extension cable in the middle so the original kinect USB is plugged into the 360 and nothing. The Kinect would boot then error out. Do not waste your money

It just does not work, green light in the sensor flashes, the Xbox console recognizes the sensor, but tries to do the initial calibration until it gives up after a while with code 0xc00009c. Needless to say, without the extension everything works perfectly.
