First of all, don't buy this at Circuit City. You'll save a heck of a lot of money using Amazon instead.

As far as the headset, the volume is much louder than the headset from MS that comes with the 360. I've also heard that I come across much more clear using this headset, which is good. The louder volume is a big thing with me as I thought the original...

I thought judging by the look of the headset, large ear cup design, noise canceling microphone, EA, and NFL logo that this was going to be an excellent product. I was wrong.

With the first product the volume had to be turned all the way up and even then the sound was way to low. After a couple of tries nothing came through the headphones. I thought well...

As far as the headset, the volume is much louder than the headset from MS that comes with the 360. I've also heard that I come across much more clear using this headset, which is good. The louder volume is a big thing with me as I thought the original headset was just too low.

The big negative to the headset, as the previous user attested to, is the fit of the right side of the headset. It's just too tight on your head after a reasonable amount of gaming. Unfortunate too, because the rest of the headset is very high quality.

I thought well its just a fluke.

Then I was shocked to learn that the second headset that I purchased produced no sound. Just occasional static. Both headsets were tried on both Microsoft wireless controllers and new batteries were put in. Both were connected properly.

I then purchased the Microsoft wired headset and it works great. Stick with Microsoft on this one. They also have a wireless version which would be worth checking out.

The other minor downside is the tight feel. With some people it may be an issue after prolonged gaming. The Microsoft headset has a lighter feel and is more comfortable.

3.0 out of 5 stars So so headset, August 28, 2006
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Motorola Gaming Headset X205 (Video Game)
I bought this headset because of the Motorola name and some other positive reviews. It seems solidly made, but I've had a few issues with it. First, I don't know if my head is too big but the non-cup side of the headset applies a decent amount of pressure such that after a while I have to move that side occasionally to prevent getting sore. This is despite having the headset expanded fully. Second, when the cord is brushed against (adjacent to the controller), sometimes I get some static despite the cord being inserted completely. Third, the part the actually inserts into the controller sometimes gets partially pulled out (when I'm playing Madden), which didn't happen with the standard headset. Overall the headset feels well-built, but does have some problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the one you get for free, December 23, 2006

I purchased this because with the wired headset you receive with you Xbox 360 produced nothing but static and was a general pain. I picked this headset up and after a quick setup and testing it worked great. The sound is clear and the on handle volume and muting are great. Great Product especially for the price.

Overall the headset just isnt good. It comes unconnected on its own frequently and not by me accidentally pulling it out. if the connected part turns slightly it just shuts off on its own. it is like having an old tv with an antenna and you have to move it and move it til you get the best picture, then you cant so much as breathe without screwing it up. i also find it to be fairly uncomfortable. It starts to hurt your ear after awhile. i would not advise anyone to purchase this headset.

The reviews on this item are very mixed, and many of the detractors cite issues with the mic and hearing and maybe disconnection of the adapter from the controller. First, I had the same issue with no mic and bad sound when I first used my set. After nearly tossing it into the trash, I realized (from a clue in another review) that I had inadvertently reversed the ends of the connecting cord - although the plugs fit interchangeably, they are not electronically reversable. The larger, oval plug end needs to connect to the headset, and once you examine the plug and jack, you will see they are a perfect fit (although the other end can also fit in the headset jack, creating the problem). Second problem is the adapter separating from the controller too easily during use that is a weakness of this design. I solved the problem permanently by making a "keeper" from a heavy-duty staple. I cut an approx. 1" length of a straight section, bent a 90 degree leg (1/8" long) at each end, drilled a small hole in the adpater (in the crotch of the Motorola 'M' logo) and one in the controller body centered between the D-pad and right stick just where the staple bends, with the opposite leg end on the logo hole. I put a slight twist in the staple before putting the keeper ends in the two holes so the resistence keeps it snug. If your keeper doesn't quite match the spacing between your holes the first time, just adjust and make another (I got lucky). This totally takes care of the disconnect issue, and it only took me about 10 minutes to save an otherwise good headset. For many weeks now the headset has worked as designed with no communication issues or disconnects. I have a 7 3/4 hat size (XL) and find the set to be heavy but fairly comfortable over long gaming sessions. The controls on the adpater work fine, and the mic boom is very adaptable. Overall, I only give this four stars rather than five because of the adapter fix issue -- you don't expect to have to make keepers or use velcro to use an item like this.

I purchased this headset, I like the looks, it's a little too small though, but anyway, every time I go to play online and when I'm in the middle of the match the controller shuts off. And leads to me losing, But I unplug the headset, switch to my old oem one and it works perfect, weird huh?
I don't recommend this headset to anyone, I'm not trying to dog on it, but its just a nice looking headset with okay sound. But if you have a wired controller then you should have no problem.
:]

2.0 out of 5 stars Hit and Miss, June 21, 2007

This review is from: Xbox 360 Motorola Gaming Headset X205 (Video Game)
I purchased this item brand new from Gamestop for about the same price as Amazon. Motorolla does make headsets for the NFL coaches so I thought that this would be a good investment. Excellent sound quality and mic (the foam thing on the mic cuts down extra noise you make from heavy breathing or from a fan).

For the first 2-3 months it worked fine, but then it started losing sound and the mic wasn't working properly probably due to poor wiring or bad craftmanship with the male connectors on the headset to the controller. The headset is heavier than others, so there is more force that is needed to keep it on one's head and that's where it squeezes your temple area (the pad on the opposite side of the earphone).

If you do purchase this hopefully you don't get a lemon. It's great when it works, but seeing that other people have had the same problems as I have, it's a 50/50 purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars what i thought of the Xbox 360 Gaming Headset X205, March 14, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Motorola Gaming Headset X205 (Video Game)
I bought this headset so that i could heard better while playing halo 2, gears of war and other games better. From what i can tell in my 3 months of use is that it does greatly improve hearing and from what my friends tell me the sound quality appears better on the other side too. However there is a down side to this leviathan and that is its size. The dang this is big and almost throws you off balance, however i have gotten used to this. Also if used for more that like 3 1/2 hrs, the headset starts to jab the side of your head causing a slight pain. However if you are going for sound quality and not looks and comfort then this bad boy is for you!

I got this headset after my XBOX 360 elite headset took a crap. I was really wondering if I made the right decision due to some of the bad ratings. I know now that I made the right decision. The sound quality is great. Just what I wanted because the sound was not loud enough on my old xbox headset. It does fit snug to your head but I think if it was loose you'd constantly be putting it back on because it would fall off. I took the advice of another person's rating by making sure the connections are put in tight. The bigger one obviously goes to the head set and smaller one fits to the controller. I have absolutely no issues with this headset. Spend [...] and check it out! My aunt just bought her son an xbox headset at walmart for $20.00 this is a fraction of the price and is soooo much nicer. Infact I will probably purchase 3 more, one for my husband, one for my brother, one for my cousin! We have 4 gamers in the house and I just got it today and they are already asking for one!
