Ok for a while now I needed another controller badly, so I went to gamestop and bought one of theirs to tide me over. That was a big mistake, it had more problems straight out of the box then I had ever seen in a controller. So I started looking around and have always wanted to try a Hori pad. So I found this little gem and compared it to the other pad that is about 20 dollars more then this one.
I can say I have gotten my money's worth with this controller. Just forget about the other one, it's just not worth it. Lets look at the pro's Pros: Great design. This thing feels good and sturdy in your hand and once you get use to the 2 bumper buttons on the side( I seemed to always want to press them instead of B, or Y untill I was use to them)you will feel right at home. Also the sticks pop back into place nicely and have texture on the top so your thumbs dont slip off. And don't forget the D-pad, this is probably one of the best D-pads I have used in a long time, responsive, textured and just fits real nice on your thumb, Good job Hori! Sensativity adjustment for the sticks: This is a nice feature although it does not change them a lot I could tell the difference. Turbo button: This is awesome!!! You can use this button to make any one of the buttons have a turbo feature which offers 3 different settings, and allows you to use more then one button as turbo. Fighting fans love the Lb and RB: This of course makes fighting games all the better when you have the buttons lined up for weak mid and strong attacks, so this set up makes it all the easier. Xbox live mics sound real good: This was a problem for me, since one of my major complaints was that with cheaper controllers and ones that were corded, My mic always sounded like their was a buzzing or hissing noise. With the Hori, I am heard loud and clear with no interferance at all. price: come on this thing is cheap compared to alot of controllers out their especially if it is from MS. I know it is corded and wireless controllers are great and all, but I am never really more then 10 feet away while playing so it does not bother me at all to have a cord. The only thing I really don't like about this controller is the ugly Xbox insignia in the middle of the controller, it's just plain ugly to look at and isn't quite as big as on a ms controller. Something to take note of to also is the ABXY buttons are a little smaller since the LB and RB buttons are on the face now, but it really is not a bad thing and only after a couple hours of play with this bad boy I was use to it. Last thing is I have only used the controller for FPS games like borderlands, Gears 2 and modern Warfare 2. I saw in a lot of the reviews saying this controller was not real good for FPS. I can't agree with that. After I got use to the design of the controller I was pulling off head shots, and placing grenades right where I wanted them to be. It worked perfectly!!!

this controller has helped me with several games. it has two modes of turbo (one requires you to hold the button down and the other is continuous without you having to hold the button.) as well as 3 speed rates for the turbo. it also has the left and right bumpers on the face of the controller as well as the shoulders making easy for those who prefer this setup when playing fighting games. my only real complaint is that it isn't a wireless controller. overall a great buy if you're not that good at rapidly tapping a button or need an extra advantage.

Please note.. my experience with this pad is solely for Super Street Fighter IV. When I play other games, I still go back to the original 360 control pad.
For fighting games, it is in my opinion superior to any of the other pads I've used (PS3, 360, Mad Catz). The build is very good, very much like the 360 pad. All the buttons and the control pad are really responsive. I like the fact that it has a + control pad rather than a round floating one because I play Guile a lot and charge moves in general are a breeze. This is a personal preference, but I like the smaller buttons (vs Mad Catz) because I have a semi-largish hand and at times have pushed the wrong buttons on accident when using my old Mad Catz. The buttons are closer to size as the 360. For you people who like using analog, it feels looser than the 360, but there is also sensitivity control. What I don't like... well, mostly the fact that the shoulder buttons appear both on the shoulder and the face. I would have much preferred it to be hardwired similar to the Mad Catz one even if it meant having 2 less buttons. I would rather use the shoulder buttons as the 3x punch/kick, but as it is now.. I'm forced to use the triggers instead. Luckily the triggers don't have as much action as the 360 and PS3 triggers and it will register as a button press sooner than the two. Also a con for me, is the placement of the turbo switches. I personally don't use turbo, so they get in my way. I would have preferred start and back to be placed there instead and the turbo button as far away from sight as possible. I guess one bonus for their placement though.. since they aren't buttons, accidental pressing of start/back/select is rather difficult. I'm definitely sticking to this pad.. I play on 360 and the 360's control pad sucks for fighting games. I've already had Mad Catz pads break on me.. so I really don't have faith in them. This one is built durable and feels like it will last for quite some time.

This controller has it all. Quality DPAD thats great for fighting & retro games, adjustable sensitivity analog sticks, 6 face buttons, and programmable turbo - plus all the features/buttons of a standard 360 controller. The only gripe I have is that it does not seem as sturdy as the MS 360 controller. That aside, though, functionally it doesn't get any better than this.

I had this controller the first day, worked great as i use it only for MWF2 and let me tell you the Fal becomes a beast with the turbo. So do the pistols though you might get a few hates messages saying you are modding but of course this is an xbox licensed product so there is no concern there.
I did have major problems the second day with the controller not working with my headset which is also new. I ordered another one so hope that clears up the problem as microsoft makes the worst lasting headsets ever anyways. The controller also moves on it's own, ill be sitting there and the cursor will move up or down like 4 spots. It's odd and if the new headsets down't work with this controller then ill see what amazon will do to get me a new one. Although a great controller and turbo controllers area pain to find, in fact this is the first one i have seen in years in stock. The old mad catz that i used before don't last and are extremely rare. Buy these before they go out of stock though.

Seven months later, both analog sticks sway.,

I purchased this because I had a good experience with two previous Hori controllers for my PS2.
Not the case with this one, unfortunately. It has been 7 months since the purchase and both analog sticks sway (the right sways down, the left sways up). I'm not a hardcore gamer that abuses my accessories; slams them, eats while playing, plays for long periods, in-fact I'm the opposite. I clean my controllers and my gaming mice (Razer Naga and Lachesis) monthly. It turns out that Hori accessories only carry a 90 day warranty (Purchased new) so no help there. I would not recommend nor will I ever purchase Hori again.

Not only do the thumbsticks not work properly immediately out of the box , the buttons are cheap and stick .
After a month and a half of using the controller the A button sticks making the controller unuseable . I Have ordered 2 of these controllers(black and blue) and they both did this . The problem with the thumb sticks is they jerk in a direction so even if you are using the controller for the D-PAD(which is why I ordered them) it will press that direction for you not matter what and cause problems . I cannot give a rating to anything that is broken out of the box so it gets 1 star no matter how good it is . If I cant use something I pay for , 1 star .

Great Controller but poor on staying fuctional,

This controller is great for the autofire fuction but they break on their own so easily. this was my second one and already after 2-4 days it malfuctions where button presses doesn't respond sometimes. my first one decided to not work at all one day by having something wrong with the wire of the controller. If you want a autofire controller that can program all the buttons including directional buttons and joy sticks then you can take the risk and buy this. otherwise just buy some other rapidfire controller
