4.0 out of 5 stars Great controller...Burning thumbs
This controller is a great for those who no longer wish to deal with the inaccuracies of the xbox 360 controller at an affordable price. The D- Pad feels great, the Zangief design looks awesome, and the botton layout is intuitive. There is one caveat, however, the controller starts to hurt the thumbs after extended use.

Well, The SF4 round 2 fightpad is almost exactly the same as the round 1 model. The only change is the artwork, obviously. The buttons feel responsive with the exception of the ones on the shoulders. Well, The SF4 round 2 fightpad is almost exactly the same as the round 1 model. The only change is the artwork, obviously. The buttons feel responsive with the exception of the ones on the shoulders. I feel as if the shoulder buttons don't depress enough to give me the satisfaction of pressing a button, but they do make a clicking sound so it's acceptable. The rubber grips work well I suppose, my hands don't sweat at all even if I play for hrs. I personally think that the "turbo" button is too close to the "back" button, I used to hit it accidentally while trying to press back(until I opened up the controller and removed the turbo button lol). The D-Pad still has its huge size but I don't mind at all as moves come out easier. If I had to describe how it feels, I'd say its like the D-Pad was placed on the shaft of joystick. I have 2 MAJOR gripes with these controllers. 1. The plastic MC uses on the D-Pad is too slippery(coming from a man whose hands don't sweat during play). I modified my D-Pad to my liking, some people prefer it the way it is. My 2nd gripe with the controller is that after awhile of heavy use, the D-Pad gets "mushy" and sometimes sticks in place. I opened up the controller and discovered that the mushiness was a result of the silicon membrane(the thing that makes buttons pop back up after you press em') underneath the D-Pad was actually breaking!!! I find that unacceptable since my wired 360 controller which I had for over 3 years still works fine. Maybe madcatz should sell silicon membranes for the people who spend $40 a pop just to get a new one(since the controller itself is fine, just the D-Pad membrane). So is this controller good for fighting games, YES. Would I buy another one if this one malfunctions, NO. Hope you found this helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars better, but no old school..., September 4, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this controller because i absolutely hate the 360 controller for fighting games. I was looking for a gamepad with the hard plastic cross dpad, and i thought this looked close. well, it is certainly better than the official 360 pads, but it is not the dpad i am used to. i should have payed attention to the detail "floating dpad", because it rests atop a joystick of sorts. Don't get me wrong, it does work much better than the standard, but if you are like me and are looking for the tradional dpad, this simply feels different, a little "wiggly" like the standard analog. i am sure that it will be wonderful once i get used to it, but i felt i should specify this detail, as it somewhat bothers me. once again, much much better than standard, but it is still not quite like playing on saturn or dreamcast,or even playstation... 4 /5 stars

3.0 out of 5 stars Y button takes a little pressure to register., August 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am pleased with the controller, really helps my game in SSF4 compared to a regular controller. The pad works fine, as do most of the buttons. One problem I have though is the Y button doesn't register unless you press it hard. And that may get in the way in a fast paced match. Otherwise, its an ok controller.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good controller, August 24, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this controller for playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 and because the d-pad on the original Xbox 360 controller is terrible. Overall I really like this controller. The button placement is very nice, and the shoulder buttons give a satisfying click when pressed. The d-pad is good too, though it is more of a disc on a stick than a d-pad. Only problem I've ran in to is getting used to doing quarter turn moves, mainly down+right moves. On the plus, this controller is extremely good for playing Mortal Kombat. I switched to this controller and it greatly improved my skills in the game.

You can also use it as a controller for emulators, which is really awesome as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars D-pad is twitchy, the standard xbox controller analog stick may be better, July 21, 2011
By
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I got the fightpad, put the d-pad is a bit twitchy. In particular down and left didn't hold very well on mine. If I check it in Window's Control Panel, indeed it's twitching between down, diagnol and left. Hopefully it's just this particular pad. I'm going to exchange it for another, if the next one is just as twitchy, I'm returning it.

So far, the standard xbox controller analog stick is better. (I'm talking about the stick, NOT the xbox directional pad. The xbox directional pad is useless for Street Fighter.) I can pull off moves much more consistently with the xbox analog stick than with the Madcatz dpad. Window's Control Panel confirms the xbox analog stick sends MUCH MORE reliable input.

I just got the game and I've been playing primarily on the MadCatz, so it's not because I'm used to the xbox controller. The MadCatz button layout is better, but the xbox controller buttons just take getting used to. The imprecision of the MadCatz won't get any better once you get used to it. I'm telling you, the xbox controller is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars HODOKEN, May 23, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I love playing my copy of SUPER Sreet Fighter 4... its one of the greatest fighting games I've ever played, even better than Tekken in arguable ways. Having a controller like this is ideal for fighting games when you don't wanna shell out for the full, tabletop required, arcade pad.
This is a nromal sized controller with a different build on the buttons to match that to the full arcade pad, but without the whole size problem. The button map looks nothing like a normal controller as all the 4 main buttons and the bumbers on the front of the thing. This can nake it sorta strange at first if you wanna use it for a different type of game. its sorta hard to play with on other games that you can't button mash on, as well as most shooters.so don't use this while playing a shooter like Black Ops or GOW3 Beta. Although it works kinda okay for some sports games and a handfull of action adventure games, but the lerning curve will take more effort than its worth.
It works great for its the purpose it was biult for, as well as a few other games, but don't keep it as a replacment for a broken controller though as its not all purpose.

On separate notes, all of these controllers are the same except for the faceplate used, so they all handle the same unless it breaks.
The whole thing is lightwieght, but it feels a little hollow in a few of the wrong places, this really just makes it seem to work better when you start raking in combos, or buttonmashing like crazy.

It feels kinda thick as it should.... it was made for a type of game that often causes people to break TVs in frustration, so it feels like you could give it a good trashing after losing 11 rounds without really damaging the buttons, although the usless cord thing kinda gets in the way.

I think the cord needs to be longer as the balance of the controller wouldn't work if a battery pack was stuck to it, it just calls for a little more restaint than I usually wanna put out when fighting my friends.

The only real problem is that the control stick/D pad thing might break if you mash you mash it too hard... but that's a given that if you crush a controller, it'll break something. It won't be a problem 'cept that its the only one on the controller and can really screw up combos if this happens to ANY of the buttons... which are all kid0nda skeechy to begin with.

I think that aside from the lack of a resonably longer cord, this is perfect once you find one with your favorite character looking awesome of the faceplate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Controller., January 24, 2011

Well me, my brother and a few of my cousins all play SSF4. I bought this controller for my cousin this past christmas because his main character is Bison. From what i heard he loves this controller! He told me compared to a normal xbox360 controller, it feels great, the response and the button layout is awesome. Hes had it for over a month now, and the controller is just rocking out. From what i heard in the past about these fightpads, is that some controllers were "built" better then others, for instance the D-pad has been crappy and tends to stick on other controller such as the Ryu controller and few other ones. Well i own a Ryu gamepad and it works beautiful, and from what i heard from my cousin, the Bison controller is working outstanding aswell. I will definately buy more later on down the line. The controller arrived well packaged and shipping was great! Amazon is an awesome shopping place :).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Fight Pad for SFIV!!!, July 12, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Mad Catz has done well with the old school sega genesis design for this street fighter controller. The d-pad is perfect. My best character is Sagat so it is crucial that I can accurately hit certain moves like his tiger uppercut. The controller is so responsive and so much better than using the standard analog on the 360 my win totals have increased. I can't say enough good things about this controller, the artwork is tight, the turbo is nice but in my opinion not mandatory. The precise control is what you pay for with this cost effective controller. Only drawback is the the 360 version is wired. That's the only negative thing I have to say about this awesome controller.

The control pad kinda sucks. It is webbed, like the traditional xbox controllers, but the playstation controllers that only have up down left and right without any diagnol directions are so much better for fighting games than the xbox control pads that have diagnol directions. Also, the control pad here is larger than the regular xbox controller and makes it even more difficult to pull of some moves. The extra buttons are cool, but don't make up for the control pad.

Not to good.
