Using the Advanced AV Adapter with a fiber optic cable gives you true dolby 5.1 sound (assuming you have a surround sound system). It is absolutely amazing! I've tested Halo and PGR2 with the new setup and it adds a new whole dimension to both games. I highly recommend this adapter. Using the S-video connection will also improve your picture quality: unfortunately it does not have component connections (red, blue, green) for the very best video quality.

I got this for two reasons:
1) I noticed that my dvd player delivered cleaner video with an S-Video connection, so i wanted that for my XBox.
2) I wanted to play Halo in surround sound.

I am completely satisfied.

p.s. - After you connect this to your surround sound, make sure to go into the Audio menu from the XBox console to set up surround sound options. Otherwise, you'll only get stereo.

Nothing on it stated it was made by Microsoft, but it looks so alike. This one works fine, I mainly bought it for the digital audio output and actually get Dolby digital sound. People never knew that, you paid for a game that you were able to get through the original Xbox with 480i video and digital audio, but never got. I had replaced this one with the HD version. Using s-video was great, until I started using the component. Digital sound is completely different than analog.

I got this cable to attach my xbox to my newly purchased LCD TV. It does exactly as it sates. The images are great. There are no gaps in the signal or snowy lines. The native xbox cables do not produce the same quality of signal. This product is worth the money.

I don not have superior audio for my tv, but i do have a 720p tv so i figured i would get theses and see if i noticed a difference. It looked a little clearer, its probably worth the few dollars i paid for it. I would have gotten the other av pack with component cables, but most games do not support them any way, so i think these are more practical. (you can see if a game supports it by checking the back to see if it says 420p or 720p) Overall it enhances the experience. As dfor audio i can not tell you how well it works, but from reading other reviews its is amazing.

I used the "Advanced A/V Pack" for many years and never realized back when I purchased it that S-Video was only capable of 480i Standard Definition (SD) resolution. For some reason I must have thought that S-Video was capable of 480p/720p/1080i back then.

In any event, you really need component cables to get that HD Quality video playback. I recommend ditching this and purchasing the HD Pack to get the Digital Audio (S/PDIF) and the Component Outs (Y/Cb/Cr).
