5.0 out of 5 stars Reviewing a last-gen console a year+ after the latest came out
First things first, my initial reaction to reviewer jon "Sam" (MI):

"Moron." Imagine that, a company not supporting an obsolete system over a year after their hardware became obsolete.

Anyway, with that out of the way, the green Halo Edition X-Box is a good investment, providing you don't care that it's almost completely obsolete. It's a good...

1.0 out of 5 stars Microsoft thumbs its nose at customers again!
For those of us who don't want to spend $400 on a new system, the older Xbox was fine. And $150 was an acceptable price. But now Microsoft has "bundled" all the consoles with a really lousy game that we don't need and don't want, and inflated the price by $30. It's highway robbery, and because of it NOONE SHOULD BUY THIS BUNDLED PACKAGE! IT'S A TOTAL RIP!!!!! Don't...

Anyway, with that out of the way, the green Halo Edition X-Box is a good investment, providing you don't care that it's almost completely obsolete. It's a good value if all you want to do is play old games. I got mine in Spring '04 and from the time I got it to the time I got the 360 and sold the old one last week, I had absolutely no problems with it. It still runs great, even after a year in a college townhouse. If you want reliability and don't mind not having any new games to play, this console can't be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best system EVER., September 15, 2007

I'm 21 and I'm in college. Some of the best parts of my life so far have been hanging out with friends and family playing games. When I was little the Super Nintendo was my favorite, then as I matured PC Games became an addiction. I never bought another console. That is until I played an X-Box at my friends house when I was 15. Now I own one, that I have moded with Linux X-Box Distro so I can play some PC Games on it as well, and an X-Box 360* (which is also moded with Linux X-Box Distro). These are the Nintendo systems of the new millennium. Great games for any kind of player, easy controls, and they're a blast for multi-player games (which seems like a specialty for X-Box that it does FAR better than the Wii or PS3).

To the previous reviewer that said Microsoft hated its customers I say this:

You bought your X-Box a month before the X-Box 360* was released!? Do you realize that the X-Box has been out since 2001!? Thats six years the system was out when you bought it and you STILL EXPECT M$ to support it!? Are you NUTS!? Did Nintendo, Sony, or SEGA ever support any of their old systems with NEW games when a new system came out? No!!! Neither does MS. A word of advice BUY A SYSTEM WHEN IT IS ***NEW*** IF YOU WANT ***NEW*** GAMES!

5.0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Xbox, November 5, 2005

So your looking at buying an xbox? here is the experience i have had with mine:

I have had my xbox for a year and a half with no problems, well, i mean there was a frozen screen every now and then. but it was very rare.because of xboxes great graphics chip and CPU it can play the same quality game as the ones you can find on you PC. (which is better than the PS2 and Gamecube).

The design of the xbox is a little bulky, but at least it looks kinda cool.

In the past people have complained about faulty DVD disk drives. what they say WAS true, you see, Microsoft has made a NEW xbox system for the same price of 150. they made this system in march 2004.I have had my NEW xbox versian since it came out in march. and i have had no problems what so ever. and for the one person who wants 3 good games for the xbox..well here they are! Halo 2 (not on computer) Star Wars Nights of the old republic 2 and fusion Frenzy... thats only 3 but i can go on for days naming games like: Starwars republic commando, burnout revenge, half life 2, battlefront 1 & 2, KOTOR, project gothem 1 & 2 that are all good. one reviewer said that it is cheaper to buy a computer??? .... most computers cost around 500 dollars to get a decent one about the same quality of an xbox! and computer games arent 2 player unless you have more than 1 computer! so if you want to play xbox halo 1 2 player then you buy an xbox (150) and 1 extra controller (25) and halo (20) so that adds up to about 200

for a computer halo 2player you need 2 300 computers (600) 2 DIFFERENT disks of halo 1 (40) 640

so here is your choice... play halo1 2player with a computer and spend 640
or get halo1 for xbox 2player and spend 200. the choice is yours.

xbox holds more power than ps2 AND gamecube put together (well almost as much)! the xbox comes with 4 controller ports and a BUILT IN network adapter. Yes, with xbox live you pay 30 bucks a year.....but you can join clans talk to eachother play anyone anywhere And make friendslist and instant message with them!!! ps2 all you can do is instant message.... and with ps2 you need to buy a 100 dollar network adapter(NOT with the slimline edition)..so for the price of the adapter you can have 3 years of xbox live...'

and in 3 years from now, hmmmmm i would probibly alreadt have bought myself an xbox 360 or ps3 :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great console, great game, December 29, 2011

First off, I see that someone is selling it for $600 brand new. It is NOT worth that much! Its not a collectible and its not like there is a shortage of these consoles. It would be stupid to buy at that price. The system is outdated and the game is outdated. I can't imagine how it would be worth anywhere near $600.00 in 2011. You could buy 2 brand new xbox 360 slim bundles for that price. Realistically, I'd say a brand new bundle should be worth under $100, and used should be under $50. Please do NOT buy unless the price is below that. The person selling the brand new one is trying to rip you off.

Anyways, I received this bundle back in 2006. First off I could tell the console was far more advanced than the PS2. Its strange that the PS2 sold so well, when the xbox was more modern. The games were really good and the graphics were far superior to the PS2. No need for memory cards as the xbox had a hard drive. Even with a hard drive, the PS2 still needed memory cards to load and save. The xbox console ran so much faster and smoother and offered a far better gaming experience, especially multiplayer. I loved playing Halo on Lan with all my friends in my dorm back in the day. The PS2 was more like a whimpy Honda Accord, while the xbox was more like a suped up V8 mustang.

Forza is a really good racing game that is similar to the Gran Turismo series of the PlayStation. Forza is better however. First off you didn't need to earn (next to impossible to acquire)licenses like in Gran Turismo. Forza had muscle cars, when Gran Turismo didn't at the time. You could also swap engines in Forza, which was pretty cool. The game felt more realistic than Gran Turismo. I'm pretty sure this game is sold on amazon for $0.01 (not including shipping). However if you have an xbox 360, I recommend getting Forza 3 or 4.

1.0 out of 5 stars BUYERS BEWARE-2 CONSOLES BROKE IN 1 YEAR!, December 3, 2005

Buyers beware with the XBOX console. We purchased our console last year as a holiday gift. Within 1 month our first unit broke because of hard drive failure. We were able to return this unit to the store and exchange it within the 90 warranty period. 10 months later, the new console also broke, same problem-hard drive broke. Now we are past the warranty period, own over 10 xbox games (each at a cost of $40 plus), and also have about 7 new games waiting for Santa delivery (these are now a worthless gift unless I want to send our unit into XBOX, pay $80 plus shipping and wait 6 weeks for the item to return). I then question the reliablity of this new unit. Something that breaks twice in one year, is NOT FUN, NOT DURABLE AND NOT EDUCATIONAL! One star is an exageration. Friends of mine have had their PS2 systems for over 4 years with no problems. I recommend checking out that system. Save money and frustration!

1.0 out of 5 stars You suck Microsoft, February 2, 2006

I was planning on buying an Xbox this very day, but the system is no longer availabe by itself.

The only way to get a new Xbox is to buy it bundled with Forza Motorsport. I suppose that's fine if you want the game, but why does Microsoft assume everyone wants some lame racing game?

Now if the price had stayed the same as the console by itself($150), I wouldn't care. I'd buy the system, and give the game away. But the price has been jacked up by $30.

Why the hell should I pay an extra $30 for a game I don't want!?
