Play Xbox One games online or offline.

Your Xbox One does not need to be connected for you to enjoy offline features of games. In fact, you can take the Xbox One anywhere and play any disc-based Xbox One game on it. The only times you need an online connection are for initial set-up of Xbox One, and to get the latest system and title updates before you start playing some games.

Xbox One
Share, trade-in, resell, gift, & rent game discs to your heart's content.

Use Xbox One's disc-based games just like you do today. There are no limitations to using and sharing them: it works like it does today on Xbox 360. If you'd rather get your games digitally, you can purchase from Xbox Live and get instant access to playing.

Xbox One
Play anywhere with your own Xbox Live Gold account.

A single Xbox Live Gold membership works across both Xbox One and Xbox 360 – your membership covers both. And you can log into a friend’s Xbox One and access all your downloadable games, preferences, and apps.

Xbox One
You control your privacy.

You decide how personalized Xbox One is to you and your family, including privacy settings, manual or automatic sign-in, and how data is used. And when you play games or enjoy apps that use sensitive personal data, such as videos, photos, and facial expressions, no one except you can access it, without your express permission.

Xbox One
Kinect or Controller: There are a variety of ways to interact with Xbox One.

Depending on the game or app, you can control Xbox One using voice commands and gestures, a controller, a remote control or your Xbox One SmartGlass device. It is designed to interact with you in multiple ways. (Kinect sold separately with $399 console.)

This system has seen it all in a short amount of time as it pertains to controversy and scrutiny, but rest assured that it's a great system worthy of the price tag.

First off, when you power it up you'll notice the spectacular UI (user interface) that comes packaged in that delivers the Windows 8 OS-like setup. It's easy to to get to where you want, and it has a nice clean look to it. Very attractive.

If you buy the Kinect (optional) you'll be walked through a quick setup that'll have you ready to go in about a minute or two. The Kinect makes navigating the UI that much more simple if you don't mind talking to a device that is. I personally don't and it's so cool in action. It has a fair share of people who refuse to give it a chance ranging from tin foil theories of being spied on to feeling silly talking or moving around to have it function in specific games but the device is impressive.

But if you're not interested in the Kinect, you still have quick access to wherever by use of the excellent controller and it's "Menu" button, which was formerly the "start" button.

The Xbox One also allows for different apps to run simultaneously via a feature called "Snap". It's nifty if a bit cumbersome in certain areas.

There are a number of ways to use Snap, such as making a Skype call to a loved one or friend while watching Netflix, or playing a game and playing music through Microsoft's "Xbox Music" app. It's fairly intuitive and unique but they could use an update minimizing the sizes you choose to dedicate to it in my opinion.

Well...after having to "repair" my Xbox 360 not once...but THREE times for various reasons (RROD twice, HD failure once) and then receiving refurbished units (from MS) in varying conditions, I was very cautious about buying an Xbox One. [sigh] Maybe I should have remained cautious?

It was my plan to wait it out and give MS time to work out any potential launch kinks. I also wasn't keen on having the wired Kinect sensor because there's no easy (or pretty) way to integrate it into my projector-based home theater setup. Plus, I've only used my 360's Kinect a handful of times...and thus, I was very enthused when MS dropped the Kinect requirement. However, I still waited...and waited a little longer until they did their "free game with purchase" deal last week. I chose Destiny....still haven't played it. I think my true destiny is to always have problems with MS consoles!

This time it's a noise. A high-pitched whine that reminds me of my college days in the early 90's. Just like my old dot-matrix printer, printing a college term paper draft in the dead of the night. A din that cuts through the otherwise silent room. The annoyance is not so much the volume as much as the pitch. It only does this when you are in the Xbox menu, or using an app. The sound goes away when you are playing a game.

It wasn't hard to find a slew of other unhappy Kinect-less console purchasers online experiencing the same issue. People think it has something to do with a coil or capacitors whining whenever the unit is not drawing enough power.

This is a perfect way for people to get into the Xbox One without spending a lot of the money now. I could see the advantages of this to someone looking to play the core Xbox exclusives without worrying about the Kinect. As many Xbox One owners, I cannot imagine using my Xbox One without Kinect. But I understand a lot of people are jaded over the Kinect and wouldn't want it. This bundle was made for them. There are times when I never even turn on my controller when using my Xbox One because the voice recognition and commands are a hundred times better on the One than they were on the 360. I used to get so angry at my 360 for unrecognized commands. People all over the internet complained about the Kinect and about how the Xbox One isn't strictly about games, so here it is. The console for the gamers who just want to use the Xbox One strictly as a gaming console. With the money you save on this bundle, and the pricing on Amazon for games, you could buy two games with the money you save. I recommend this to anyone looking to get into the Xbox One at the ground floor and still having money leftover for a few games to get their library started. I haven't stopped playing my Xbox One since I bought it. I love it.

When I open a product, I expect it to start working in 60 seconds. Just like my iPad.

It has been over 24 hours. We have been unable to play the game that came with the console. Why? Because we are still downloading the game! It is 20% done after a full day of download. What an awful experience on my birthday! See attached picture.

First it took 3 hours just to start the Xbox One. Very unhappy that it took 3 painful hours to get to the welcome screen. Microsoft, is this cool? (Starting the console required a mandatory ~300 MB system update. I have a ~105 Mbps high-speed cable internet line from Comcast. Xbox one has a wired connection. Xbox is receiving internet speed between of 80 - 90 Mbps. Although the game file is downloading at about ~1 Mbps)

Dear Microsoft Product Managers, here is a challenge for you. When a customer starts their Xbox One they should be able to begin using it in 60 seconds or less. If it takes several days to start using their game console then Steve Jobs is right about your sense of taste. And from my experience over the last 24 hours - a lack of respect for your customer's emotions.

Folks, wish me happy birthday!
