Get the facts.
Play Xbox One games online or offline.
Your Xbox One does not need to be connected for you to enjoy offline features of games. In fact, you can take the Xbox One anywhere and play any disc-based Xbox One game on it. The only times you need an online connection are for initial set-up of Xbox One, and to get the latest system and title updates before you start playing some games.
Share, trade-in, resell, gift, & rent game discs to your heart's content.
Use Xbox One's disc-based games just like you do today. There are no limitations to using and sharing them: it works like it does today on Xbox 360. If you'd rather get your games digitally, you can purchase from Xbox Live and get instant access to playing.
Play anywhere with your own Xbox Live Gold account.
A single Xbox Live Gold membership works across both Xbox One and Xbox 360 – your membership covers both. And you can log into a friend’s Xbox One and access all your downloadable games, preferences, and apps.
You control your privacy.
You decide how personalized Xbox One is to you and your family, including privacy settings, manual or automatic sign-in, and how data is used. And when you play games or enjoy apps that use sensitive personal data, such as videos, photos, and facial expressions, no one except you can access it, without your express permission.
Kinect or Controller: There are a variety of ways to interact with Xbox One.
Depending on the game or app, you can control Xbox One using voice commands and gestures, a controller, a remote control or your Xbox One SmartGlass device. It is designed to interact with you in multiple ways. (Kinect sold separately with $399 console.)
Your Gamertag and Gamerscore follow you to Xbox One.
No need to worry: you can bring your Xbox Live Gamertag and Gamerscore with you to Xbox One. Your Gamerscore will be automatically updated once you have connected to Xbox Live.
Communicate with Xbox Live Gold friends using messaging or Skype.
With Xbox One and an Xbox Live Gold membership, you can use Skype to voice chat with any platform that supports it. If Skype isn't supported (like on the Xbox 360), you'll still be able to see which of your friends is online and message them. Requires Kinect which is sold separately.

I'm a long time Xbox fan, but early announcements about features like no backwards compatibility, always on internet, requiring Kinect had me skeptical, and a lack of solid game choices all kept me from buying the game. Thankfully, Microsoft heard the public outcry about these features so now the Xbox only has to be connected to the internet when you set it up and to update games, the Kinect is not necessary hardware, and they've added backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games giving a vital boost to the playable game library. Knowing all of this, I still waited until fall of 2015 to buy the console, as I knew they'd be doing the large software update then, adding on backwards compatibility, as well as releasing Halo 5 and Star Wars Battlefront. So I bought the refurbished Xbox One through Amazon, because saving $40-80 to get the same thing seemed like a no brainer. The Xbox is working as it should for the most part, though it's had some recurrent network issues, as well as issues with the cable connection, and CPU speed.
REFURBISHED: It included everything a new Xbox includes, though the controller that ships with it is the first generation controller and does NOT have the 3.5 mm stereo jack on the bottom. It also had an unsightly refurbished sticker slapped on the front of it that was a pain to get off.
*For those who need help here, my suggestion is to use a credit card and WD40, the WD40 will remove adhesive and the credit card can scrape it off without scratching the Xbox.* Had I known those things I might have considered just paying a little more for the new version.Read more ›
I was going to buy the 1T Xbox One bundle with fallout 4, it would have been around $400. But then I saw this listing and was able to buy the Vault Dweller guidebook as well as a rechargeable controller base for right under $400 (including the game and console). Had I bought the bundle, it would have been around $460 for all of that. I already have a 1T external hard drive, so I am not worried about 500gb being too small. Highly recommend this refurbished unit to save a little $$.
First off, when you power it up you'll notice the spectacular UI (user interface) that comes packaged in that delivers the Windows 8 OS-like setup. It's easy to to get to where you want, and it has a nice clean look to it. Very attractive.
If you buy the Kinect (optional) you'll be walked through a quick setup that'll have you ready to go in about a minute or two. The Kinect makes navigating the UI that much more simple if you don't mind talking to a device that is. I personally don't and it's so cool in action. It has a fair share of people who refuse to give it a chance ranging from tin foil theories of being spied on to feeling silly talking or moving around to have it function in specific games but the device is impressive.
But if you're not interested in the Kinect, you still have quick access to wherever by use of the excellent controller and it's "Menu" button, which was formerly the "start" button.
The Xbox One also allows for different apps to run simultaneously via a feature called "Snap". It's nifty if a bit cumbersome in certain areas.
There are a number of ways to use Snap, such as making a Skype call to a loved one or friend while watching Netflix, or playing a game and playing music through Microsoft's "Xbox Music" app. It's fairly intuitive and unique but they could use an update minimizing the sizes you choose to dedicate to it in my opinion.Read more ›
Awesome Entertainment and Media/Social Apps and programs, the menus is like a Windows PC. Looks really cool!
A few minor bugs in the menu but all in a great machine..
The 360 had many flaws and fails, but not one 360 froze on me compared to my PS3.
This generation i'm sure this console is passed all that "over heating" shindig stuff, so its awesome!
Just got the new Halo Master Chief Collection game and the install was fast and efficient.
Back to the Xbox 1 dashboard, it can run a few apps at once.. including playing games or watching dvd/blurays while on the menus..
In terms of being an outstanding gaming, social media and entertainment all in one console, this beast is the ONE!
