4.0 out of 5 stars not good at all, July 15, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Xbox Pro Mini Wireless Controller (Accessory)
Initially it looks like a pretty good controller for the price. fairly confortable, small, doesn't look too bad. Battery life is not too bad either. The analog sticks are a little too long, so its too easy to move it around, which can cause problems if you want to press them (for the stick buttons), since you'll accidently move the stick while pressing it. Here is the really bad part, wireless range is horrible, it is RF but if you're blocked by any object you may lose connection. 2nd the left analog stick after playing with it for a couple of weeks, starts to go bad. It will move by itself, i.e. leaving it in the center, doesn't really center it in the game, probably some calibration problem. I thought i was just unlucky and got a defected one, but my replacement has the same problem now too. Just very badly designed and tested, i suppose.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor product, December 30, 2004
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox Pro Mini Wireless Controller (Accessory)
This is the worst product I have ever bought. I just picked up one of these and after ripping open the package found that the battery cover was missing. This irritated me but once I plugged the unit in, I was infuriated, the controls are sloppy and erratic and the range of the unit is horrible. I strongly advise anyone looking for a wireless Xbox controller to pay the extra ten 15 bucks and get one that works.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, if you want a cheap wireless..., January 22, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox Pro Mini Wireless Controller (Accessory)
When looking for a wireless controller, I stumbled upon this. Unlike other cheap wireless controllers, it had rumble built-in, and was half the price of the logitech (got it for $20), so I bit.
I loved the controller when I got it- love the smaller size, the feel of the buttons & analog stick, the turbo button, and most of all no wires.
Never had a problem with the connection- I've had both the connector and controller upside-down, blocked by objects, and other awkward positions, none of which affected the connection or gameplay.
Battery lasted a long time, changed it after about 6 months, and overall the controller seemed like a great deal.

But after a while, the left analog stick does tend to get uncallibrated, and goes crazy on-screen. It's usually fixed with a quick power off-on of the controller, but still inconvenient, and increases with time. And the buttons stick after repeated use- in my case the A button. It works fine, but doesn't feel quite as good as it used to.

I can't fully recommend this product for hardcore gamers (the button issues will get in the way after 50 or so hours), but if you're just a casual gamer looking for a cheap wireless controller, go for it.
