After reading these reviews I had already printed my return label when I decided to call Microsoft just to double-check. Yes it does work on the 360. I did the following, and at least it worked for me:1. Do not use the disk that comes in the box. 2. Just plug it in, go to "settings" and put in your encryption key if you have one, if not just leave it alone. 3. Try more than once. For some weird reason it only worked at the second try. I have this adapter in the basement and the router in the first floor. It works great, comes with the cable, and I saved $50...

After you set the encryption, it doesn't care what it's plugged into.,

I have had this bridge for like 3 or 4 years. I bought it for my original Xbox. Once you interface with the bridge through your Xbox (or Xbox 360) and enter the correct settings (wep encryption key and so forth)to connect with your wireless router, this thing doesn't care what it's plugged into. I've actually used this bridge to connect my Toshiba HD DVD player to the internet for firmware upgrades. Currently, my son has it connected to his PlayStation 2 to play PS2 games online! Once you have it set to connect to your router, it doesn't care what it's connected to.Pro's: It's fast/Can be used as a universal bridge for any device Con's: This bridge can only be interfaced through the Xbox or Xbox 360. You cannot simply plug this into a PC and interface with it to make settings for it. It's completely Xbox dependant to change any settings within it./Only supports WEP encryption. And like someone else mentioned, there IS no firmware update for it to make it support WPA (which is a racket by MicroSoft to try to get you to buy their new $100 bridge). If you want a bridge that supports WPA, buy the Dlink DGL 3420 ($89). You can interface with it through your PC (a major plus) to make settings for it and use it for any device, including the Xbox 360.. just like the MN 740.

This wireless adapter was made for the original Xbox to connect to Xbox LIVE, though it is compatible with the Xbox 360. The main problem with it that I was not initially aware of is the fact that it only supports WEP encryption. If your wireless router uses WPA, it will not work. Also, unlike the Xbox 360 wireless adapter, you need an AC adapter to supply power to it, as well as a CAT-5 cable which plugs into the 360's Ethernet port. The Xbox 360 wireless adapter, on the other hand, just pops right into any of your 360's USB ports, and then you're good to go after typing in your router's SSID and password. The Xbox wireless adapter is a bit bulkier and less aesthetically pleasing, though most people don't care about the appearance of a product like this. The 360 wireless adapter is considerably smaller and more streamlined, though, making it far more visually attractive and better for fitting into smaller spaces (especially when taking into account that it doesn't need a bulky external power supply). If your router supports WEP encryption, you don't mind needing an AC adapter to power it and you're not willing to spend more than about $40-$50 for a wireless bridge, then this product may be for you. However, the Xbox 360 wireless adapter is superior in every way besides the cost. I actually managed to snag a used 360 adapter for about $70 which was a great deal in the end after previously struggling with the original Xbox adapter. The decision of which to get is your choice, but make sure your setup will allow you to use the original before purchasing it. On the other hand, if money isn't an issue, then a used Xbox 360 adapter is the better option. Bottom line: Only get if you don't mind or aren't fazed by the issues with the original that I mentioned. 3 stars.

Just like the majority of the reviews on here, this guy works with the Xbox 360 with no problems. The device found my wireless network with no problems. And after entering my WEP security, I was able to connect to Xbox Live.Save yourself some money (and a USB port) and buy this one over this:Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter

After reading the other reviews, I thought that I must have bought the wrong wireless adapter and would need to return this one for the $95 one for XBox 360. But, I did just what psquare said, I did not use the installation CD. It recognized my network instantly, just typed in my WEP code and it was as simple as that!

We were able to get this to work with an Xbox 360. I did have to connect it via the ethernet cable first. But, once it was hard-wired to the router, I disconnected the ethernet cable and hooked up the wireless bridge. It then was able to recognize the router. No setup disk required. It has very good range, too. I have my router on one side of the house on the first floor, and the bridge/Xbox 360 on the other side of the house on the 2nd floor. My router is a Dlink DI-524.

Unless you are using the obsolete WEP encryption standard, this wont work on your network. There is no firmware update available to make it so that it is compatible with WPA or WPA2 without completely removing its ability to work with the 360.So unless you are willing to switch your network to WEP encryption (a decision which depends on how paranoid you are for the most part), then you will have to purchase the one made by Microsoft or route your 360 through your laptop or PC (which is fairly easy to do).

XBOX MN740 WIRELESS ADAPTER,

There are 2 wireless adapters that you can use for the Xbox 360 that are made by Microsoft. This is the cheaper (approx 1/2) the cost of the other adapter. When I recieved it, it did not mention on the box whether it would support the 360 but it does very well without any hitches.I plugged the ac power cable it comes with and the 360 sensed it right away and I did not need to change any settings on my wireless router. My sons were happy campers from the get go. It has decent range as well. I had the wireless router on one side of my home and the 360 on the other. My sons had no complaints and they are used to a high speed direct connect cable versus wireless connecting. It came with an installation disk which I did not install (many people said not to and they were right, I did not need to). FYI, I have a Windows XP Professional computer setup and high speed 4 mps internet connection feeding into a Airlink 101 Mimo G wirelss router. Hope this helps you decide if this device is for you. I recommend it highly.

This wireless network adapter works very well with my 360 at about half the price of the other option. Note that this is a stand alone product and does not attach to your 360 other than through the cable connecting it to your ethernet port. If you want to save $50 buy this option.

I think that Microsoft is working very hard to force people to buy the more expensive wireless and it is not necessary. If you are running your basic 802.11b or g network, there is no need to upgrade; this add on is more than sufficient. This was very easy to set up and get going. and there is no reason to spend the extra money.
