1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Dissapointed
After hearing many rave reviews about fast rising progressive jazz melodic metal hardcore br00tal band ELCTRIKCHAIR, I had high hopes for their BLASTZONE ENTERTAINMENT GROUP debut, XENOPHOBIA. Perhaps too high it seems. The album falls flat in many if not all aspects. The first thing I noticed was how everything sounds very jumbled. The cymbals drown out most of the other...

wow, very talent muscicians. not many musicians out today actually take the time to learn to play but these guys have. the drumming is amazing. they are very progressive were songs go from metal to a mamba beat to hardcore back to metal. these guy are worth checking out. seriously, sample the music like i did the try to say they have no talent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ascending pre-set boundaries? I believe so!, September 10, 2010
This review is from: Xenophobia (Audio CD)
First and foremost, Elctrikchair is not your typical heavy metal band. If your looking for a familiar sound, it is doubtful that you will find what you are looking for with Xenophobia. Elctrikchair's music is an acquired taste and I mean that in a positive manner. The same seems to hold true for any music that ascends the boundaries of what is known and accepted in the music industry. Some people dislike change. Others, such as the members of Elctrikchair, accept and initiate change. When the talent is there, and it is with this band, and when the effort is set forth, progression is undeniable. The fact that Xenophobia is being marketed through [...], Amazon.com, FYE, Hot Topic, Best Buy, and numerous other outlets speaks volumes in regard the success this album and band have garnered for themselves.

At first listen, just scanning through the tracks, I often wondered if the album was something I would be interested in listening to again. In fact, there were instances in which I asked myself, "What the hell?". Then, after taking the time to listen to the album in its entirety and paying attention to each song as it played through, the music just came together for me and left me impressed. The composition of the music, the innate ability of the musicians, and the fact that they fear no boundaries and are willing to push the envelope are plenty of reasons for me to continue following this act. I know what I like when it comes to music, and I like Elctrikchair!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its own genre!, March 31, 2010
This review is from: Xenophobia (Audio CD)
Very interesting, well produced, genre unique progressive metal. Elements of punk, raggae, extreme/traditional heavy metal, jazz, and classical combine well on this disc, and create almost a new genre of rock. Cetain songs are exceptionally catchy (Celebrity Media Whore, End of the World watcher) and others (Xenophobia, Black Plague) are very technical. Overall an amazing album! Something for every rocker appears in this release... If you like rock: Buy this album!

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Dissapointed, March 24, 2010

After hearing many rave reviews about fast rising progressive jazz melodic metal hardcore br00tal band ELCTRIKCHAIR, I had high hopes for their BLASTZONE ENTERTAINMENT GROUP debut, XENOPHOBIA. Perhaps too high it seems. The album falls flat in many if not all aspects. The first thing I noticed was how everything sounds very jumbled. The cymbals drown out most of the other instruments and creates a very unpleasant. The production on XENOPHOBIA should have been MUCH better. The huge amount of effects on the majority of the vocals don't improve the sound and remind me of robots. If anything I was excited to hear what legendary drummer Bob Rodruigez had to offer, but it seems the drums are littered with electronic triggers. After fighting through disastrous blizzards, huge rainstorms, unconcieveable amounts of fatigue and times with the only food being old bologna and crackers, ELCTRIKCHAIR doesn't have much to show from it.
